Our C.A.R.E.givers Club Is Helping Keep Our Community Warm! 🧥💙

Through the WMMC Foundation, our C.A.R.E.givers Club—a group of Western Missouri Medical Center employees who give back through the C.A.R.E. Program—collected coats to support RISE Community Services Free Coat Sale, running now through February 28. Already, more than 80 coats have been given away to local individuals and families in need.

Thanks to this partnership, we are helping ensure everyone in our community has access to warmth, comfort, and care during the coldest months. Stop by RISE Racks Thrift Store at 125 N Holden St., Monday–Saturday, 9 AM–5 PM, and RISE together this winter!

These awards are available to Johnson County residents or students at UCM, State Fair Community College, or UMKC pursuing careers in nursing, medical school, therapy, lab services, radiology, pharmacy, nutrition, and more.

Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic achievement, and dedication to healthcare. Completed applications must be submitted by April 1, 2026.

Congratulations to Alexis Turner, one of our recent Champion Award winners! 🏆

Alexis was recently recognized for stepping in to assist another department during a busy shift, going above and beyond to support the team and ensure patients received exceptional care. Today is Dean Ohmart’s last day at WMMC — and he’s officially driving into a well-earned retirement. 🚗

Dean has served as Vice President of Financial Services and Chief Financial Officer since 2017, providing steady guidance and years of dedicated service to our organization and the community we serve. His leadership strengthened our hospital and leaves a lasting impact that will be felt for years to come.

Throughout his time at WMMC, Dean encouraged others to “choose happy” — a reminder that even in challenging moments, we can choose kindness, gratitude, and a positive approach to our work. He believed that showing up with purpose and optimism not only strengthens our team, but also improves the experience for our patients and community.

We will truly miss him, but we are so excited for this next chapter. Thank you, Dean, for your leadership, your heart, and the values you shared with us all. Wishing you smooth roads, exciting adventures, and a retirement filled with joy and happiness.💗

After years of dedicated service, Dean Ohmart, VP of Financial Services/Chief Financial Officer, will retire effective Jan. 30. Dean’s leadership and expertise have played an important role in strengthening WMMC’s financial foundation and supporting the long-term stability of our hospital.

Following Dean’s retirement, Lacey Bredehoeft-Fiene, MHA, CHFP, will assume the role of VP of Financial Services/Chief Financial Officer. Lacey brings more than 17 years of experience at WMMC and a strong record of financial and operational leadership.

The latest exhibit, Art in Motion, was created by Angelica Page, the artist behind The Portrait Artist LLC. Her work showcases a passion for portrait artistry and a meaningful connection to the people she photographs.

Our gallery wall is located on the first floor of the hospital near the Rehab Services entrance and is open to the public. We invite the community to stop by and experience Art in Motion for themselves!
