Change doesn’t happen by accident.

It happens when physical therapists and PTAs show up!

This week APTA-KS volunteers, Jennifer and Chris, were at the Statehouse advocating for policies that protect our patients and strengthen our profession. The work behind the scenes, legislative meetings, committee discussions, relationship-building is done by members who give their time to move Kansas forward.

Membership isn’t just a title. It’s how our voice gets heard.

If you believe in advancing physical therapy in Kansas, we’d love to have you alongside us!

Hey Kansas PTs & PTAs 👋

🚨 Kansas House Bill 2562 🚨

House Bill 2562 would allow individuals with disabilities to receive a special license plate or a permanent/temporary parking placard based on documentation from a physical therapist, not only a physician or other provider.

This means PTs could have a formal role in helping patients access disability-related parking accommodations when it’s clinically appropriate.

The bill was introduced on January 27, 2026 and is currently with the House Health and Human Services Committee.

Why this matters:
• It recognizes the clinical judgment and documentation of PTs
• It could improve access and timeliness for patients who truly need accommodations
• It represents how physical therapy continues to be acknowledged in state policy and patient advocacy

Drop a comment, send a DM, or share this with a colleague, your voice matters as this bill moves forward!

Big wins today!!!
