Pennsylvania has built an integrated crisis response system to ensure people experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis can get help quickly — someone to call, someone to respond, and somewhere to go. The Governor’s 2026–27 budget strengthens that system with targeted investments to expand access, support frontline providers, and ensure reliable, around-the-clock crisis care in every corner of the Commonwealth.

The proposed budget includes $5 million to sustain walk-in crisis stabilization centers, prioritizing regions with limited access to immediate, in-person care and strengthening collaborations among hospitals, community providers, and local responders.

We’ll keep sharing this post until the word “committed” is no longer used in conjunction with su***de.

People can die from the unbearable weight of life, people can die from broken hearts, and people can die from not understanding how to navigate a complicated mental health system.

People do not, however, commit su***de. Su***de is not a crime. People die by su***de.

Let’s update our language and fight to improve our mental health system. Mental health support and improved access to better treatment *IS* su***de prevention.

NAMI Bucks County PA would like to thank Abbey's Bakery for joining us as a Silver Sponsor of the fourth annual NAMI Bucks County Golf Outing to be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Northampton Valley Country Club in Richboro.

"Abbey’s Bakery was founded to honor the life and legacy of Abbey Wolf, who we lost way too early. Abbey was vibrant and kind with an infectious laugh. Abbey was loved and admired by all that knew her. She was everyone's friend. Abbey was compassionate, creative, driven, smart, funny and full of life. Abbey was a daughter, a sister, a grandchild, a niece, a friend, an athlete, and a crafter. Abbey, our little Martha Stewart, was happiest when she was baking though. She found peace when she was working in the kitchen and the joy when she shared her delicious treats with friends and family. Her specialties included Banana Bread, chocolate chip cookies and brownies. She seasoned everything with her secret ingredient: Love.

Sadly, Abbey also silently battled depression and anxiety. We tragically lost Abbey to su***de on November 7th, 2020. She was just 14-years old.

Abbey may not be here physically, but her family is determined to carry on her love for baking with others. Today we share that love, and her recipes, with you in hopes that it brings you joy and happiness and that baking creates an environment that fosters mental health conversations."

Learn more at www.abbeysbakery.com and get your tickets to golf with us on May 18th at www.namibucksgolf.org.

There is a major storm headed our way that is expected to yield significant snowfall, and we want to make sure you're prepared.

❄️ Refill Medications Early: Secure at least a 7–14 day supply of all prescriptions to avoid interruptions if pharmacies close or roads become impassable.

❄️ Medication Documentation: Keep a written list of medications, dosages, and your pharmacy’s contact information.

❄️ Confirm Provider Plans: If you have regular therapy or clinical appointments, confirm if they will transition to telehealth or be rescheduled.

❄️ Emergency Contacts: Write down numbers for your doctor, therapist, and crisis lines on paper in case your phone dies.

❄️ Establish a "Storm Routine": Map out a simplified daily schedule (e.g., fixed wake-up/sleep times, scheduled meal times) to provide structure when normal life is disrupted.

❄️ Nutrition & Hydration: Stock easy-to-prepare, nutrient-dense "comfort" foods. Avoid excessive caffeine or sugar, which can spike anxiety.

❄️ Movement Plan: Identify simple indoor exercises like yoga or stretching to release stress hormones if you are stuck inside.

❄️ The "Check-In" System: Identify 2–3 trusted people and set a schedule to text or call them (e.g., "I'll text you every morning at 10 AM").

❄️ Create a "One-Room" Setup: If power fails, move your "comfort kit," bedding, and supplies into one room to stay warm and reduce the anxiety of navigating a dark, cold house.

❄️ Service Animal Prep: If you have an emotional support or service animal, ensure you have extra food, medication, and a plan for their bathroom breaks in deep snow.

❄️ Create a "Mental Health Kit": Pack items that help you self-soothe; include sensory items like essential oils, fidget tools, or a journal to manage overwhelming emotions; download movies, podcasts, or guided meditations to your devices while you still have power.

❄️ NAMI Emotional Support WarmLine: available for one-on-one support from 3-10PM daily by calling 215-343-3055, option 1
