Good News in Breast Cancer Research

A new study finds that breast cancer recurrence rates are low among young women—a promising step forward in breast cancer care and survivorship outcomes.

At NCBC, we remain committed to supporting comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients of all ages. This research highlights the importance of early detection, personalized treatment, and ongoing support.

But does the choice of treatment — mastectomy vs breast-conserving therapy — affect patients’ risk for locoregional recurrence across molecular subtypes?

Chemo-Free Breast Cancer Treatment?

A new study from China has tested a chemo-free regimen in patients with early-stage HER2-positive/HR-positive breast cancer — aiming to reduce toxicity while maintaining efficacy.

While the findings are promising, researchers caution that the approach is not ready for prime time. More data and longer follow-up are needed before it can challenge standard chemotherapy protocols.

Takeaway: Innovation is on the horizon, but for now, standard treatment remains the gold standard.

Happy Father’s Day from the National Consortium of Breast Centers

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, father figures, and caregivers who offer strength, compassion, and unwavering support to their families and communities.

At the National Consortium of Breast Centers, we recognize and honor the important role fathers play—not only as protectors and providers, but also as advocates for health and well-being. Whether it’s encouraging a loved one to schedule a mammogram, supporting a partner through a diagnosis, or even facing breast cancer themselves, fathers are an essential part of the journey toward breast health for all.

This Father’s Day, we salute the men who stand beside us in our mission to provide quality breast care for everyone—because breast health is not just a women’s issue; it’s a family issue. We also salute those fathers who are also breast cancer survivors.

Remembering Ananda Lewis: A Legacy of Advocacy and Awareness

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ananda Lewis, former MTV VJ and talk show host, who courageously battled breast cancer until her death at age 52. Ananda's journey highlighted the critical importance of early detection and the need for open conversations about breast health.

At NCBC, we honor Ananda's legacy by continuing to advocate for accessible screening, education, and support for all individuals affected by breast cancer.

Our thoughts are with Ananda's family, friends, and all who were touched by her strength and advocacy.

The TV personality was previously diagnosed with breast cancer.
