"I visited Florida with my family when I was in 4th grade. Driving around in our station wagon, we visited Cape Canaveral and saw the Space Shuttle. Like many boys at that time, I wanted to be an astronaut!"

"When I was about 8 or 9 my family drove to Islamorada Florida for spring break in a panel van with two front seats, and we put a love seat in the back for my grandma sister and myself. I fished every day trying to catch a colorful cow fish. It always stole my bait and turns out cow fish are hard to catch on a hook. On the last day I found it trapped in a small pool at low tide and I caught it with my tennis shoe!"

Next up in our "Childhood Road Trips - Are We There Yet?" is Dr. Jankowski!

"Our favorite place to visit was Florida, whether it was Disney, Universal, or visiting my grandparents. We were the classic American family packing the car to the brim with our luggage and snacks. I have an older sister Lisa and younger brother Michael – as a younger brother myself I tended to drive Lisa crazy, and Michael always seemed to get car sick. We would sit in hours of traffic, drive out of the way for bathrooms (usually a McDonalds), and find a dingy hotel in Georgia or Tennessee to stay in halfway through the 18-hour drive. This included a memorable overnight stay in a Knights Inn which we now fondly call “Nightmare Inn.” All the hijinks aside, these were some of the best times of our lives growing up and I wouldn’t trade it for anything! Ali and I still go on vacations with my family almost every year. Most recently we all went to Wisconsin Dells and enjoyed introducing our 1-year-old daughter Nori to waterparks."
