Kosciusko County's Emergency Management department was granted Health First Indiana (HFI) funding ($4,847.84) through Health First Kosciusko for the purchase of eight North American Rescue MCI Rapid Response Throw Kits to enhance immediate lifesaving capabilities within County government facilities.
These kits are designed for rapid deployment during mass casualty incidents, active threat events, or severe medical emergencies, providing critical hemorrhage control and trauma care supplies in the crucial minutes before first responders arrive. Strategically placing the kits in County facilities will allow trained staff and security personnel to quickly access tourniquets, pressure bandages, and other essential medical tools proven to reduce preventable deaths from traumatic bleeding.
The proposed purchase directly supports Kosciusko County’s commitment to employee and public safety, aligns with best practices in emergency preparedness, and complements existing emergency response and “Stop the Bleed” initiatives. Investing in these kits strengthens the County’s readiness posture, improves survivability during high-risk incidents, and demonstrates proactive risk management for facilities that serve the public daily.
We are incredibly proud of the work our emergency management team and their partners are doing to help prepare for emergency situations and the safety of Kosciusko County residents. Thank you!
