When I first started noticing subtle changes in my body— pelvic discomfort, and a sense that something just wasn’t right—I went to the professionals I trusted: my doctors. I explained my concerns clearly that these symptoms were new for me and concerning. Yet, instead of being taken seriously, I was reassured that my symptoms were “probably related to changes from menopause” or that they were simply musculoskeletal....

One of the most painful patterns I see in my practice is this: a patient knows something is not right in their body, yet their concerns are minimized or brushed off. Sometimes the stakes are small. Other times—like in the case of missed cancer diagnoses—the cost can be devastating. As a physical therapist who has worked with patients for more than 25 years—and as someone who has walked this path personally—I know how critical it is to trust your body and speak up, even when it feels uncomfortable....

To Invest or not to invest...it's not the only question...
There is a plethora of devices marketed and available to address many areas of pelvic health from Kegel weights for strengthening to vi*****rs to red light vaginal wands. With so many choices (almost too many), there are a few more questions to ask yourself in addition to the usual for any purchase ...do I need it? And, is it worth the money? Before you purchase consider the following:

Is this device recommended or safe for my specific condition? 🤔💡
➡ Make sure it’s suited to your goals (e.g., strengthening, pain relief) and backed by professional advice or research.

What is the quality and credibility of the product? 🏷✔
➡ Look for reputable brands, certifications, and reviews to ensure safety and effectiveness. Avoid generic or unverified products.

What features or settings will benefit me most? ⚙📏
➡ Consider adjustability (intensity, size, material), ease of use, and if it matches your comfort level.

Do I know how to clean and maintain this device properly? 🧼🛡
➡ Hygiene is key! Check for clear cleaning instructions and ensure it’s made of safe, non-porous materials.

Does the cost align with my budget and potential benefits? 💵📈
➡ Reflect on whether it’s worth your time and investment for your health and wellness goals. Especially your time commitment to use the device for your specific needs.

These questions will help you make a safe and well-informed choice for your pelvic health. And remember to consult with your medical specialist if a specific device is right for you.🌸

Why Pelvic Health?

It’s a question I get asked all the time...“What ever made you want to do this for your job?”

As a women's health advocate for over 30 years, I truly believe I was born to do this work, it’s not a job. I have had the honor of helping women of all ages from me**es to menopause and beyond manage their pelvic health, recover from childbirth or surgery and regain bladder/bowel control while they get back to their optimal level of fitness/function. My obsession with women's health began when I taught my first exercise class for women at 18 years old. Years later, during my 1st pregnancy, I experienced my own pelvic health issues. Back then, it felt like I was navigating a stormy ocean with a tiny sailboat for one, completely alone with no one really knowing how to help. It took over 2 years to recover fully. With my second baby, childbirth was not so good to my pelvic floor. I realized that I was in the same boat with an even more difficult recovery ahead. Gratefully, I learned about women's physical therapy and how to restore my pelvic floor, it took some time but I became whole again. Immediately, I vowed to advocate for pelvic health and eventually I became a board certified women's health physical therapist

Too often I hear women say “why don’t we learn about this sooner in life” or “no one ever told me that this could happen“. It is time we center meaningful education and collaborative prevention around women and their unique health needs.

Full Circle Pelvic Health is part of my mission to improve women’s health, maternal care, and to prepare women for their best journey to menopause.
