After more than half a century of cannabis being grouped with he**in under federal law, the DEA is moving to reschedule ma*****na to Schedule III — a decision that could reshape the future of cannabis in America.
Here’s what it means:
🌱 Medical Recognition – For the first time, federal law would acknowledge cannabis as having accepted medical value and being less risky than opiates.
📚 More Research – Rescheduling lowers barriers for scientists, potentially opening doors for medical breakthroughs.
⚖️ Reduced Stigma – Patients may face fewer barriers in healthcare, child custody, employment, and housing.
💵 Business Relief – Cannabis businesses would finally be able to deduct operating expenses on federal taxes, leveling the playing field with other industries.
🏛️ Policy Pressure – The move increases momentum for Congress to address full legalization and harmonize federal law with the 70% of states that already allow medical cannabis.
🚫 What it doesn’t mean:
Cannabis is not federally legal yet.
State-legal cannabis businesses still operate in a gray area until Congress acts.
Patients won’t suddenly be able to pick up cannabis prescriptions nationwide — FDA approval is a much longer process.
💬 More than 42,000 comments were submitted during the DEA’s review, with the overwhelming majority supporting rescheduling or full descheduling.
🔑 Bottom line: Rescheduling to Schedule III is a big step forward — but it’s not the finish line. Advocates continue to push for descheduling and full legalization to truly protect patients, consumers, and businesses across the country.

I decided days before if not 1 day in advance, because I can't remember that far back the detail of the phone call, to impromptu invite my friend via phone call from OB to see if she would book a bucket list adventure with me when money wasn't a thing and time was of the essence...skydiving, since we both were on an all the things agenda that summer, in which I do in fact remember being pleasantly surprised by her hell yes and how it wasn't a long wait to book a slot to jump out of a perfectly good plane that ended up being on a perfect sunny day, in the most perfect place to jump, aka Newport...the peace I felt was so serene until the door of the plane opened and I froze with a split second to think "I don't want to die" then I was shoved out the door cuz I wouldn't move..flight or fight kicked in, in which I decided to fly!!!
Some things can't be seen or said, only meant to be experienced! I just realized this evening, today was this days anniversary which meant more than what meets the eye or is deemed to be the check mark☑️on that bucket list item.
Celebrating that day as well as others 🎉.
