The Parkinson's Place

After watching a video about the positive effects of how a non-contact boxing program called Rock Steady Boxing had helped people counter the effect of the depilating symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease, Michael Qu***ia found himself walking into a boxing for fitness gym called Fight2Fitness, it was there that he met professional fighter Richard Gingras and both lives changed forever. Richards’s passion to help others was clearly evident so Richard and Michael decided to attend the Rock Steady Boxing training facilities based out of Indianapolis, Indiana to become certified trainers for the boxing program. It was in June of 2014, only 4 months after meeting Michael; Richard started the Rock Steady program at his Fight2Fitness club. As Richards passion grew so did the program, that’s when The Parkinson’s Place (TPP) was born. Richard realized People with Parkinson’s (PWP) needed more than non-contact boxing to live a better quality of life. The Parkinson’s Place officially opened its doors in December of 2016 in a beautifully refurbished mill located on the 2nd floor off of exit 29 at 65 Blackstone Ave in Pawtucket, RI. Current programs at TPP include Rock Steady Boxing, Tai Chi and acupuncture, with future plans to include programs such as Big & Loud, massage therapy and much more! Richards’s vision of a one stop visit for PWP has enabled a community to fight back together as a group enriching the lives of so many who needed his help.
