Congress is moving four anti-DC bills to the House floor this week and this directly impacts everyone living in DC, especially our most vulnerable neighbors who rely on government support and services. If these pass, they will:

- Take away DC’s ability to set our own sentencing guidelines (HR 4922)
- Bring back police car chases, putting bystanders at risk (HR 5143)
- Let kids as young as 14 be tried as adults (HR 5140)
- Hand Trump full power to pick DC judges (HR 5125)

When Congress strips DC’s right to govern ourselves, it means fewer protections, fewer resources, and more danger for the people already carrying the heaviest burdens.

If you’ve got 5 minutes today, please call the key members of Congress on this list and tell them to vote NO.

Amplifying Free DC:

Trump's agenda of destruction is a direct and urgent threat to DC communities. We need to be using every tool available to us right now to bring this occupation to an end, and one of those tools is boycotts.

Consumer boycotts have already forced Elon Musk out of Trump’s inner circle. Now, as the occupation of DC intensifies, it's to turn our attention to another billionaire who is both fueling and profiting off Trump's detention machine: Jeff Bezos.

Free DC is calling for a boycott of Amazon and all of its affiliated consumer brands. We won't shop at companies that profit off detention — including Amazon and its brands Whole Foods, Zappos, Audible, Ring and more. Sign the pledge at the link to let us know you’re joining the boycott. https://freedcproject.org/amazon

For this week's What We Need Wednesday, we only have one ask: We need couches! Our stock of couches and sofas are very low. If you have a couch to donate, we accept drop-off donations at our Center for Community Service (9159 Brookville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910) Monday – Wednesday and Friday – Saturday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. We accept donations that are in dignity condition: free of rips, stains, or excessive wear, and ready to use. Your donated couch can make a difference for people experiencing furniture poverty.
