The USMLE® Management Committee met a few weeks ago. This committee consists of individuals with state medical board experience, faculty, practicing physicians and public members. The committee’s duties include:

✅Recommending changes to exam design.
✅Determining the passing standard for each exam.
✅Advising on test administration and test accommodations issues.
✅Monitoring and evaluating implications of national trends in medicine and education.

✅Review the Guidelines carefully before compiling your supporting documentation.

✅Give yourself enough time.
✔️It can take approximately 60 business days to receive a decision for a new request or reconsideration request. Please allow for the full amount of processing time during peak periods, December-April.
✔️Don't wait until your eligibility period begins to submit your request.

✅Complete your step exam application as soon as possible.
✔️Submit your Request for Test Accommodations Form and supporting documents as soon as you complete your exam application.
✔️Indicate you are requesting accommodations on your exam application to ensure your scheduling permit is placed on hold while your accommodations request is processing.
