In order to one’s self, one has to empower their day to day routine!

When you’re not speaking with a clinician or a friend of family it can help to speak with others who can directly impact your life’s trajectory.

How mentoring helps mental health?
1. Supporting isolation | Having a support system while feeling alone is very important. Speaking to someone who has been there, has a shared experience who wants what’s best for you.

2. Reducing levels of anxiety | Suffering from anxiety tends to look like worrying about everything from the simplest of tasks, to the people around you, to your own abilities. Mentoring is proven to fight those feelings and minimize worries by sharing them with someone who can encourage and inspire you.

3. Increasing self-confidence | the limiting assumptions we can tend to have about ourselves due to victimization can be minimized by having a personal cheerleader in our corner. A mentor can help support in decision making and giving a safe space that can help one grow. The rewarding feeling of accomplishing even the smallest of goals is rewarding and results in improved mental health across the board.

4. Feeling listened to | Asude from therapy, having a mentoring relationship especially one established formally through work is built around mutual trust and confidentiality. Mentoring can be cathartic and supportive. It’s not therapy, it is a mutual aligning of helping each other grow.

5. Hope for the future | After being victimized, fear and anxiety about the future is a common struggle. As a mentor helps someone work toward achievable goals and accelerates their progress they can reduce these anxieties and instill hope and optimism around their future.

Be VOCal | Be Aware | BEcome Empowered

Many s*x traffickers lure victims by providing basic survival needs. They systematically provide distorted versions of higher needs to manipulate victims. Using threats, force and coercion, traffickers exploit the fact that, for many victims, “the life” may be their first experience of ‘family’ and belonging.

Through Paving The Way’s Victims of Crime “Empower Me” campaign is aimed to provide resources to our community. No one has to feel like they are beholden to another for their basic needs. We want to Empower YOU with the things that you need to help you make the choices that you want to get the life you deserve.

Welcome to the new year!

This year we will journey together to HEAL.

Paving The Way MSI’s Victims of Crime program has launched the “Empower Me” campaign aimed to heal you from within. Mind | Body | Spirit

As we are coming out of the pandemic’s lockdown, we’ve all had a moment or two to reflect.

You are NOT what happens to you, what you do after you’ve been knocked down is what counts!
Let us be your accountability partner…

Each month the Empower Me program will bring you tip from our clinicians, tricks, to train your brain and make new connections, and how-to actionable things to bring you into a healthier way of thought. We have games, Q&A sessions, Videos from our staff, Events and much more

Thoughts are physical thrust into realization… let’s control our thoughts and manifest the life we deserve!
