Denise founded Akoma Wellness, where she serves as a personal & spiritual development coach, rites of passage facilitator and wellness guide to

those who seek to reclaim the "missing" variables in their lives and are ready to undergo a process of rebirth and transformation. She has received certifications and training in Yoga (RYT 200), Life Coaching, Reiki (Level 2), Tarot Advising, Human Design, Meditation and Mindfulness, Sound Healing, Trauma-Conscious Care, EFT (Tapping), Herbalism, and the AromaTouch Technique. She received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education and Minor in Africana Studies from North Carolina State University and a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction (Minority & Urban Education specialization) from The University of Maryland. In September 2019, she was initiated as a Priestess of Yemaya in the Lucumi (Orisha) tradition in Havana, Cuba and received the name, Yemaya Adédoja. Her intention is to create and hold sacred spaces that support individuals with re-membering who they are and embodying the power that comes with being connected to the heart. be love. be free.

the mocha moon sacred circle was birthed from:

- my own experience of completing a rites of passage into womanhood as an adult + the healing i continue to experience within sacred sisterhood.
- lessons i’ve learned throughout my transformation and rebirth journey + the wisdom i’ve gained being in relationship with the divine mothers + my mother + women who show up in my life as mother-sister-friend.
- my expertise as an educator and wellness practitioner with over 20 years of experience.

this 9-month rites of passage + initiation journey was designed for women to be seen, held, witnessed, and heard during a process of unlearning, re-membering and returning to themselves. it is a safe space that provides an opportunity to experience sacred community and to explore and develop deeper levels of your own womanhood.

the curriculum includes:
- 9 rebirth principles
- weekly moon astrology reports
- weekly lunar exercises
- monthly affirmations
- a goddess of the month exploration
- 2 monthly virtual group calls
- monthly 1-on-1 virtual soul sessions

just as doing one’s own shadow work is an essential component of healing, addressing the shadow side of sisterhood is equally as important. there is such great value in being honest with yourself about the times you’ve experienced hurt, disappointment, feelings of abandonment, mistrust, and not feeling safe with other women, as well as the times where you may have hurt, disappointed, abandoned, created mistrust and not been a safe space with the women in your life.

this is one of the reasons i believe creating safe spaces for women and providing an opportunity to redefine sisterhood is a such a critical part of our individual and collective healing journey.

sacred sisterhood teaches us how to show up in our own lives and the lives of others with accountability and shared responsibility. this isn’t about becoming besties or even friends with every woman you encounter, but rather choosing to see her as your reflection, your opposite, and your window in all of her glory and imperfections, worthy of love and respect. this is part of how we practice being in and building community.

the mocha moon sacred circle is a 9-month rites of passage and initiation journey designed for women to be seen, held, witnessed, and heard during a process of unlearning, re-membering and returning home to themselves. open your heart and mind to the possibility of a new experience with women and in doing so, becoming a fuller version of yourself.

cohort 8 begins january 2025. only 5 slots are available. visit bit.ly/mochamoonsacredcircle for more information and to begin the application process. 🌓

it’s that time again…
cohort 8
of the
mocha moon sacred circle loading. ✨

honestly, i wasn’t sure if i should continue with this offering. i was a little nervous about adding more to an already full plate, but my guides quickly reminded me that this is what we do and that i’m not doing this alone. so we’ve decided to keep things intimate this year. only 5 slots will be available for the upcoming cohort. can’t wait see what spirit cooks up. 😉
