What if the future of fibroid research looked different?

For generations, women living with fibroids have carried knowledge that often never makes it into clinical studies: the exhaustion, missed work, fertility struggles, years spend trying to be believed, and daily decisions symptoms force them to make.

Research CAN change outcomes, but it needs to ask the right questions.

Join us for “Patient Voices in Fibroid Research”, a virtual event where we will bring together patients, advocates, researchers, and healthcare professionals to explore what better research could truly look like. Use the link in our bio to register now.

During Women’s Health Week, we’re reminded how many women spend years quietly living with symptoms that disrupt their bodies, their energy, and their quality of life, all while wondering if what they’re experiencing is “normal.”

Heavy bleeding. Pain. Exhaustion. Large blood clots.
So many women learn to suffer through these symptoms in silence before finally getting answers.

KT’s story is a reminder that women deserve to be heard, believed, and cared for sooner.

Heavy Menstrual Bleeding is not always something that can wait to be addressed at your next appointment.

When bleeding becomes severe, persistent, or accompanied by symptoms like dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath, or chest pain, it may require immediate medical attention.

Many women have been conditioned to minimize their symptoms for so long that it becomes dangerous. But as our theme this year reminds us, what’s been normalized isn’t normal.

Welcome to another !

Fibroid Friday is a result of a collaboration between and the Fibroid Foundation to bring new and emerging fibroid news and research to those who need to know about it first - women with fibroids and their doctors.

Too many women have been told that things like heavy bleeding, missing school or work, planning life around their period and waiting years for answers is “normal.”

This month, we’re saying it clearly: What’s been normalized isn’t normal.

Today marks the start of National Menstrual Health Awareness Month, and all month long, we’ll be raising awareness, sharing real stories, and pushing for better care and access.

We’ve created a 2026 Social Media Toolkit to help you be part of the movement.

What we know about fibroids is powerful, but what we don’t know is just as important.

Entire communities have been left out of women’s health research for way too long. When data is incomplete, so is the care.

This is why we keep pushing for better research, and healthcare that reflects all women, not just some.

Understanding the full picture is how we move from awareness to action.

Happy !

Fibroid Friday is a result of a collaboration between and the Fibroid Foundation to bring new and emerging fibroid news and research to those who need to know about it first - women with fibroids and their doctors.

This week’s articles highlight the fact that the more we study fibroids accurately and inclusively, the better our understanding, and thus care, becomes.

This future is all within reach, but it doesn’t happen by accident. We need policy change when it comes to menstrual health, and we need it now.

On May 19th, we’re bringing this vision directly to Congress at the National Menstrual Health Awareness Month briefing. The question is - will your representative or a member of their staff be there to hear about the importance of prioritizing menstrual health legislation?

Take 2 minutes today and call or email your member of Congress and ask them or their health staffer to attend. Change is closer than we think, but it’s going to take action from all of us to make sure Congress shows up.

This week is National Infertility Awareness Week, and many people aren’t aware that fibroids can affect fertility in some women, being considered the sole cause in at least 1-2.4% of cases.

If you’ve dealt with infertility, you are not alone, and your story, your journey and your desire to build a family all matter. Use this carousel as a guide, seek out 2nd opinions and remember that we’re here to help in every step in your journey. ❤️
