My good friend and trainer Sulaiman Rahman has created a self-defense workshop specifically for healthcare workers. Think of things like folks grabbing you by the scrubs or while you’re leaning over them. These are techniques that I have personally used as a psych floor nurse and they kept me, my patients, and co-workers, safe. For more info contact Suli directly by using the contact info on the flyer.

One thing that is important to us is not treating Autism as though it's a disease. It's a difference that deserves dignity, not something that needs to be treated. That being said, there are some aspects of autism which can be tough to deal with, like sensory over-stimulation, and we can use medication to help that. Likewise, being autistic does not protect you against other mental illnesses, so it's very common for us to first diagnose Autism and then treat other, underlying, diagnoses.

Jenna, my student for the Fall semester has lost her Spring 24 preceptor because they've changed practices. Does anyone have room for a student this Spring and interested in taking a PMHNP student? I haven't had this student yet myself but based on her resume and our conversations I have a feeling she'll be a rockstar.
