September is Deaf Awareness Month! 🧏🏽

🌟Deaf C.A.N.! has a video series in ASL showing what it’s like to live with HIV in the Deaf community which includes real stories and real people. 🔗Check out this link to learn more: https://www.deafcan.org/living-with-hiv-videos-in-asl.html.

🌟Gallaudet University's “Left Behind: HIV/AIDS and the Deaf Community” shows how Deaf folks were shut out early in the epidemic because health information & support weren’t shared in American Sign Language (ASL). Still today, many face barriers in getting accessible treatment, prevention tools like PrEP, and support.

📆 Today is National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day ( )! ♥️ NHAAD highlights the growing number of older adults living with HIV and the unique health 👩🏽‍⚕️, social 👨🏽‍👩🏽‍👧🏽‍👦🏽, and stigma-related challenges they face.

🤔 Did you know that nearly half of people with HIV in the U.S. are age 50 or older? Yet prevention and care systems often overlook their needs and lack collaboration between HIV, primary, and aging services.

♥️ NASTAD reaffirms its commitment to advancing health equity by reducing stigma, supporting person-centered care, and promoting policies that ensure healthy aging for all people living with HIV!

As the proportion of people living with HIV over the age of 50 continues to rise, it’s critical to center interdisciplinary care—bringing together HIV providers, aging services, and clinical staff to build models that support whole-person wellbeing.

This September, the Collaboration in Care Conference (CCCHIV2025) will convene leaders and providers across the nation for a virtual, two-day gathering. Together, we’ll co-create strategies that enhance access, quality, and coordination of care—because collaboration is more important than ever in challenging times. Organized by the Training & Health Equity Collaborative with vital funding from Gilead Sciences.

September 15 marks the first day of National Hispanic Heritage Month! 🎉Did you know that over 316,000 people who are Hispanic live with HIV? ♥️

While they only represent less than 20% of the entire U.S. population, they made up more than 30% of new HIV diagnoses in 2022. Prioritizing HIV prevention, care, and treatment resources and services in Hispanic and Latine communities is essential in order to end the epidemics.
