HEALTHCARE TAKES FLIGHT AT REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT

Howard University Hospital, the Howard University Faculty Practice Plan, and the Howard University Cancer Center proudly teamed up with staff members at Washington Reagan National Airport to host a powerful Men’s Health Month screening event.

From baggage handlers to aircraft marshals, dozens of hardworking airport employees took time to prioritize their health during the all-day event, which featured free screenings and resources focused on heart health, cancer prevention, blood pressure, and more.

Members from The Young Doctors Project also came out in force to show their support — gaining hands-on experience and inspiring future health leaders through real-world actions.

This first-of-its-kind initiative at the airport brought essential care to the frontlines, reaching a vital group of workers who often don’t have the time or access to regular checkups.

👏 Thank you to our incredible healthcare teams airport partners for making this impactful day possible. Together, we’re bridging gaps in care and empowering communities through access, education, and action.

INSPIRING FUTURE SPORTS JOURNALISTS THROUGH MEDICINE & MENTORSHIP

This week, Dr. Robert Linton II, Chief Medical Officer of Howard University Hospital and a former on-the-field physician for the Baltimore Ravens, welcomed a dynamic group of aspiring sports journalists from the Howard University Multicultural Media Academy for an engaging conversation during their visit to HUH.

The program is coordinated by Dr. Yanick Lamb who sought to bring talented high school students — representing the DMV, Georgia, and California to HUH for some valuable insight and knowledge. Students had the opportunity to hear firsthand about Dr. Linton’s unique career path that bridges healthcare and professional sports. He shared powerful insights on leadership, medicine, mentorship, and how his role impacts both patient care and athletes on the field.

The discussion offered students a rare glimpse into the medical side of sports and reinforced the importance of representation, discipline, and purpose in every profession — especially at the intersection of health and media.

We thank Dr. Linton for uplifting the next generation of storytellers and showing them how health, sports, and journalism are more connected than they think.
