URGENT ACTION NEEDED:

During the regular session, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network worked to oppose legislation that would have weakened vaccine requirements for school entry by allowing parents to opt out for reasons of conscience.

This policy change would likely lower vaccination rates over time, potentially impacting community immunity and putting cancer patients and their families at risk.

While the bill did not pass during the regular session, the Legislature will again be considering it during the upcoming special session, beginning tomorrow. Please take less than 30 seconds and send a message to your legislators letting them know you join ACS CAN in opposing legislative efforts that would weaken immunization policies, putting vulnerable Floridians, including cancer patients and survivors, at risk.

At ACS CAN, we believe that everyone deserves access to screening programs that detect cancer early. We need your help ensuring that the Florida Legislature adequately funds cancer research and life-saving cancer screenings, like the Mary Brogan Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, which provides critical screenings to low-income, under and un-insured women.
