The Employment Support Specialist/Job Coach is responsible for providing vocational assistance and support, and liaison and advocacy services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in order to place and maintain these individuals in competitive employment in the community. The Job Coach/Employment Specialist has the responsibility of teaching them the skills they need to be able to perform the job. Along the way, they also provide encouragement and support as they build up the person's self-confidence.
MUST HAVE:
*A Bachelor's Degree (preferably in psychology, sociology, vocational rehabilitation, any therapy or health care related, or business.
*Pass a background check with the Department of Health (DOH), to include:
-Nurses Aid Registry
-Office of Inspector General
-S*x Offender Registry
*Have at least 2 years experience working with people with disabilities
*Supported Employment experience is a plus (but not required)

People with developmental disabilities often need the assistance and support of a Job Coach/Employment Specialist to make them successful in their work environment. The Job Coach/Employment Specialist has the responsibility of teaching them the skills they need to be able to perform the job. Along the way, they also provide encouragement and support as they build up the person's self-confidence.
