A full house was in attendance 2026 Budget Engagement Forum, where residents from all wards engaged with district agencies on critical issues such as housing, economic business growth, healthcare, and world-class city policies.

We participated in collaborative small-group discussions, utilizing an interactive puzzle to review policy ideas and determine priorities for FY27 funding.

We also celebrated our Executive Director, Kowshara Thomas, as the 2026 recipient of John Thompson Jr. Legacy of a Dream Award ✨️

We are proud to announce that our Executive Director, Kowshara Thomas, has been honored with 2026 John Thompson Jr. Legacy of a Dream Award.

Named after the legendary head basketball coach, this prestigious award is presented annually to an individual or group that has demonstrated exceptional service within upholding the tradition of being people for others.

The Let Freedom Ring event celebrates both the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the award presentation. This year's celebration will feature a performance by and will be hosted for the first time at the historic on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 6PM.
