Meet Tommy Flood, one of our 💚 .dc year-longs:

I was raised in Appleton, WI, and recently graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in neurobiology. My goal is to attend medical school and become a physician. As a physician, I hope to provide more equitable and accessible care to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, as I am hard-of-hearing myself. Outside of school and work, my hobbies include health & fitness, traveling, and going out with friends.

Did you know over half of people living with diagnosed in the U.S. are 50 and older? Some were diagnosed later in life, while others have been living with HIV for years.

Here, at we are committed to making sure our residents and community members can age with dignity.

In 2023, those aged 55 and older made up 42% of the HIV-positive population, with 55- to 64-year-olds representing the largest group at 26%. (AIDSVu)

with HIV face unique challenges. This observance honors the history of activism and medical advancements that have allowed many to live longer, healthier lives, while highlighting the ongoing need for support and advocacy for this population.

For 35 years, we have valued person-centered care first. Upon intake, we set up an individualized health plan to ensure their needs (physical, mental, and spiritual) are met while they stay with us. 💚

It was a great weekend Unity Walk 2025 Resource Fair with our development crew.

This annual event is a great way for us to share our critical work and mission with a diverse cross-section of people and faith-based groups.

We enjoyed meeting new folks and thank you to everyone who came out to support the event and participate in the walk. 💚

Last week, our Executive Director, Kowshara Thomas, welcomed the .dc cohort during a breakfast event.

Today marks the first day for two cohort members as they begin their year-long service at . We are thrilled to welcome them and look forward to supporting them in their efforts to assist our residents and community members in various ways. Stay tuned for more photos!

In loving memory of Mario 💛 You were not with us for long, but we could feel the love around you. Your mother was by your side every day, and friends came to visit you. Your spirit lives on in those who knew you.

Thank you for letting us take care of you during your transition from your earthly journey. Rest in peace and light.
