Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) is persistent and excessive bleeding after childbirth and a serious cause of maternal morbidity and mortality.

PCORI recently published two reports related to PPH:
✔️ A scoping review on PPH care bundles and the use of tranexamic acid for the prevention and treatment of PPH.
✔️ A scoping review on the use of viscoelastic testing in the diagnosis and management of PPH.

Uncontrolled high blood pressure affects millions and increases the risk of heart attack and stroke.

A PCORI-funded CER study compared two care approaches: clinic-based care and telehealth care.

Results showed blood pressure decreased among both groups; however, individuals receiving telehealth care reported higher rates of satisfaction and lower burden scheduling visits. Read more: https://pcori.me/3Lx7d7Z

After treatment from colorectal cancer, follow-up testing helps monitor for potential recurrence. However, there is uncertainty as to what type and frequency of follow-up can best in detecting cancer recurrence and improving overall survival.

A PCORI-funded CER study compared outcomes for groups who received more frequent versus less frequent follow-up scans and blood tests. The study found the test frequency was not associated with key health indicators — including the ability to detect cancer recurrence.
