Hope Center for Wellness, LLC is a DC based bilingual and multicultural behavioral health practice focused on the holistic healing of community members. Through compassionate guidance and the use of mental health wellness techniques, we tap into client’s inner possibility to harness hope, balance, and the clarity to adapt behaviors and overcome challenges towards desired goals. Services provided include individual, group and family therapy in person or via TeleMental Health, biopsychosocial mental health evaluations and trainings for organizations, schools and companies on a variety of topics including wellness, self-care, leadership, direct services to Latinos, immigrants and other communities, mindfulness for kids, youth and adults. Founded in November, 2016 by Cheryl Aguilar, LICSW, LCSW-C.

🌟 Insights from the Hope Center Team 🌟 We asked Sofia about her personal approach to staying balanced and refreshed.

For Sofia, self-care is a creative process of unwinding. She finds her balance by reflecting on things she's thankful for and exploring new worlds through books and television. She also makes it a point to stay active by stretching and moving her body. To her, wellness is built through small, consistent habits that focus on the activities she truly loves.

Para Sofia, el cuidado personal es un proceso creativo de relajación. For this week’s Myth vs. Reality, we highlight the myth that people who are going through difficulties can simply turn off their feelings or ignore them easily.

In reality, a positive mindset is only one tool that can help on the path toward healing, but it is not always easy to achieve when there have been difficult experiences that shape the way we think. Therapy can help process challenging past experiences and transform patterns of thinking.

Para el Mito vs. Realidad de esta semana, destacamos el mito de que las personas que están pasando por dificultades pueden simplemente apagar sus sentimientos o ignorarlos fácilmente.

En realidad, una mentalidad positiva es solo una herramienta que puede ayudar en el camino hacia la sanación, pero no siempre es fácil lograrla cuando ha habido experiencias difíciles que moldean la manera en que pensamos. She helps young people navigate experiences like anxiety, low mood, family and school stress, and challenges within their communities. Her work is tailored to each individual, using developmentally appropriate approaches that foster coping skills, resilience, and a deeper understanding of themselves.

Growing apart from a friend could be difficult, even when no one did anything wrong. 💛
Not all friendships are meant to last forever. Some are seasonal, and that doesn’t erase how meaningful they were. You can honor what it was while making space for who you’re becoming. 🌿.
Separarse de un amigo/a puede ser difícil, incluso cuando nadie hizo nada malo. 💛
No todas las amistades están destinadas a durar para siempre. Algunas son temporales, y eso no borra lo significativas que fueron. Puedes honrar lo que fue y, al mismo tiempo, hacer espacio para la persona en la que te estás convirtiendo. 🌿
