Today, we celebrate the 19th anniversary of the Global Medical Response (GMR) Employee Foundation. In 2023, the Foundation provided more than $570,000 to more than 220 GMR family members who faced catastrophic events, such as property loss, the death of an employee or family member, or debilitating illness. Our primary goal is to provide financial assistance to our employees during times of need. We are proud of the work the GMR Employee Foundation has done over the years, and we remain committed to supporting our employees in any way we can.

Fall Prevention Awareness Day is a perfect time to prioritize personal safety and make necessary changes to prevent falls. Here are some tips to help reduce the risk of falling:
Make sure carpets are secured to floors and stairs, and use non-slip rugs and strips on floors and stairs.
Remove items that could cause you to trip or slip while walking, especially throw rugs.
Avoid wet floors and clean up spills right away.
Ensure proper lighting inside and outside.
Store food boxes, cans, dishes, clothing and other everyday items within easy reach.

Congratulations to our latest EMT graduates of the Earn While You Learn Program! There are 16 graduates in total and in a month all 16 have passed the National Registry Exam for EMTs. We couldn't get a picture of all of them together because most are already working on AMR ambulances as EMTs. These EMTs worked hard in the program and are already reaping the rewards. We are excited to help the next cohort of students accomplish their goals and change their lives.

The school year has begun! AMR offers the following tips to help you prepare for a safe and successful school year:

• Walking to and from school: remind children to always walk on sidewalks or paths and cross at street corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks. Teach them to put away electronic devices and look left, right and left again when crossing the street. Remind them to make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street and watch for cars that are turning or backing up.

• Hand hygiene: routine hand-washing with soap and water or regular use of hand sanitizers continues to be an essential part of staying healthy before, during and after school.

• Nutrition: select healthy and nutritious options for breakfast and lunch to ensure children receive the essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients their bodies require for healthy growth and development.

• After school: if children will be home alone after school, make sure they know how to dial 911 and know their address and phone number, as well as name, location and phone number for parent(s), trusted neighbors and an emergency contact, such as a grandparent or family friend.
