Dr. Raymond Tu, Chief of Radiology at Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center, is partnering with the DC Primary Care Association - DCPCA to support hands‑on research for William Goo, a fourth‑year medical student at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences.

Together, they’re exploring how strategic imaging decisions in Federally Qualified Health Centers can improve patient outcomes, reduce unnecessary testing and preserve valuable resources in safety‑net communities.

Dr. Tu shares that working with community partners and students is especially rewarding, combining excellent care with education and mentorship. We’re proud of this meaningful collaboration and its impact on patients and future physicians alike

We were honored to welcome a group of second-year medical students from the UC Berkeley/UCSF Joint Medical Program to CHRMC during their recent visit to Washington, DC. Focused on health equity and social justice, the students spent time learning about our services, learning key departments and engaging in thoughtful discussion with hospital leadership.

The visit held special significance, as one of the students, Douglas Washington Morris II, is a descendant of Frederick Douglass. He was joined by his grandmother, Nettie Washington Douglass, the great-great-granddaughter of Frederick Douglass and great-granddaughter of Booker T. Washington and his father, Douglas Washington Morris. Prior to visiting CHRMC, the group toured the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site, including Cedar Hill, where Douglass lived for his final 17 years and the home that inspired our hospital’s name.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with future physicians and share how CHRMC services and supports our community.

It was an amazing turnout at our Open House for providers interested in joining our team! Guests enjoyed hearing from hospital leadership, touring the facility, networking and connecting over refreshments. Our team shared how new outpatient clinics in Ward 8 will help expand access to high-quality, specialist care, right in the community’s backyard. From Cardiology and Family Medicine to Physical Therapy, OB/GYN, Gastroenterology and more, we’re excited to continue growing our services that meet our neighbors’ needs. With even more clinics on the way, we’re just getting started!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special event!

There’s a beautiful new addition to the Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center lobby! It was an honor to unveil a stunning Frederick Douglass sculpture by Vinnie Bagwell, gifted to CHRMC by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Leaders from our hospital, George Washington University Hospital, AWS, Vinnie and our community gathered to celebrate this meaningful piece, a powerful tribute to Douglass’ legacy and the inspiration behind our hospital’s name.

The sculpture now welcomes everyone who walks through our doors, honoring history while reflecting our commitment to providing exceptional and compassionate care for all.

Special thanks to our friends from NBC Washington for the media coverage.
