It’s 🧡

Last week at the Jones Foundation Infertility Counseling Conference (JFICC), I was surrounded by some of the most powerful infertility mental health therapists in the country—and I’m still processing how meaningful that space was.

As a therapist, I support people navigating infertility every day.
As a patient, I’m walking this journey too.

Holding both at the same time changes everything.

We talked about the real stuff:
✨ Therapist self-disclosure
✨ IVF family dynamics & child adjustment
✨ Lived experiences of egg donors
✨ And what ethical, culturally responsive care actually looks like

’s session on weathering and reproductive mental health? Whew. That one stayed with me.

Shouting out the clinicians who made this space feel safe, seen, and sacred 🖤✊🏾:

I kicked off Black Maternal Health Week by participating on a panel discussion with fellow Black Birth workers that was hosted by .
During this panel I discussed the intersectionality of perinatal mental health and infertility mental health counseling. I also discussed stigma and barriers that contribute to help seeking behaviors of Black women experiencing perinatal and/ or infertility distress.

Quick stats:
💚Nearly 40% of Black mothers experience perinatal mental health conditions.

💚 1 in 5 new moms experience perinatal mental health symptoms.

💚Mental health conditions are the leading cause of maternal deaths.

💚”Higher rates of trauma exposure, combined with being 3-4 times more likely to experience dangerous complications during birth, significantly increase the risk of maternal mental health disorders, including birth trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, for Black women.” - Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health

So I guess we’re all a joke now.
I don’t normally make posts like this but this pi**ed me all the way off today. Pregnancy is not an April Fools joke.
I don’t joke about anyone’s pregnancies, infant losses, and miscarriages. Black maternal health is not a joke.

Now, I must go practice some deep breathing exercises and disconnect from socials for the day. For more information on why this isn’t a joke please visit resolveorg .ivf and

Black Maternal Health Week and National Infertility Awareness Week are next month. As we prepare to spread awareness on birthing justice and family building I encourage you to consider why representation matters in family building.

“Children are not born with stigma.
📌They are taught it or protected from it.
🔸When we normalize different paths to parenthood early, we raise a generation that doesn’t whisper about IVF, adoption, surrogacy, or donor conception.
🔸A generation that understands that being childless …even not by choice ; is not something to shame or question.
⚡️Representation isn’t about trends.
⚡️It’s about dignity.
📌It’s about making space for every story …including the ones that look different from what we’re used to.
📌Every child deserves to grow up seeing their story reflected without secrecy, without apology, and without shame 💜”

Hello,
I’m looking for information on any Infertility mental health conferences and Black Perinatal Mental Health conferences happening this year.
I’m already registered for the Jones conference, I’m knowledgeable about PSI.

I’m also looking for information on any National Infertility Awareness Week events in DC or MD. I’d love to attend and/ or support.
Thanks in advance!

(Takes big breath) 💚💕

Black women experience infertility at nearly twice the rate of white women—yet only 4–7% of Black women utilize IUI/IVF, compared to over 80% of white women.
Despite having a greater need, Black women are significantly less likely to seek or receive fertility treatment due to systemic barriers such as cultural stigma, limited access, provider bias, lack of culturally responsive care, and higher rates of conditions like uterine fibroids and PCOS.

In response to this gap, I created a confidential, private Facebook community exclusively for my sorority sisters 💚💕 who may be struggling with infertility or navigating family-building through IUI, IVF, egg freezing, donor eggs, or surrogacy.

This space is designed to offer:
• Support grounded in shared lived experience
• Guidance on accessing treatment and affordable medications
• Emotional and peer-based community
• Trigger-aware and privacy-protective engagement

If this resonates with you or someone you love, feel free to DM me for details.
Membership in the sorority is verified to protect the safety and confidentiality of the group. 🩷💚💕

You are not alone—and you deserve support that understands you. Reproductive mental health trauma impacts Black people and you or someone you love doesn’t have to be alone.
