This week’s Featured Image from Seefried et al. shows examples of double staining with primary ab and FMS serum. Note high degree of FMS serum binding to NF200, IB4, CGRP, and PV positive neurons, and lack of overlap with TRPV1 positive small neurons and satellite glia cells (FABP7). In June, the 2025 North American Pain School (NAPS) gathered in Montebello, Quebec for a powerful week of science, mentorship, and connection.

29 early career researchers explored pain science with leaders like Tor Wager, Clifford Woolf, Jennifer Stinson, and Kirsty Bannister, and learned how to share their work with the world through the new Science Communicators program, led by Neil Andrews.

IASP proudly supports NAPS and our network of immersive Pain Schools and Camps worldwide.

This week’s Featured Image depicts the cryo-EM structure determination of the human TRPA1/LY3526318 complex. Broad et al. found that LY3526318 blocked TRPA1 in vitro and in vivo, inhibited behavioral signs of enhanced nociception in animal models, and was safe and well tolerated in phase 1 clinical studies. This week’s Featured Image is a directed acyclic graph depicting the variables influencing chronic pelvic pain (CPP) after C-section. Each node represents a variable, and each unidirectional arrow represents a direct causal effect. The absence of an arrow assumes there is no direct causal effect. The exposure variable (C-section) is represented by a play button, and the outcome variable (CPP) is represented by a stop button. The pink circles represent potential confounding variables. Our Story

The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) is the world’s largest multidisciplinary organization focused on pain research and treatment. IASP membership is open to all professionals involved in the research, diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of pain in such disciplines as anesthesiology, physical therapy, alternative medicine, pediatrics, neuroscience, and psychology.

IASP has more than 90 national chapters and 7,000 members who live in 133 countries. Members may belong to one or more of 21 Special Interest Groups such as neuropathic pain, cancer pain, pain in childhood, and pain in older adults.

To educate and inform its members, IASP funds a variety of grants and fellowships and produces scientific and clinical publications, including the PAIN®, PAIN Reports®, and PAIN: Clinical Updates. IASP also publishes a membership newsletter, PAIN: E-Monthly, as well as books on various aspects of pain through IASP Press. IASP hosts the Pain Research Forum where members of the international pain research community engage in an open exchange of information and ideas, as well as RELIEF, a site where the public can learn about new developments in pain research. Every other year, IASP hosts the world’s largest pain-related meeting of scientists and clinicians, the World Congress on Pain.

IASP was officially incorporated in 1974 and recognized as an NGO by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1987.
