Here are some words to say to replace other, more stigmatizing words (i.e. crazy and offbeat). The goal of this post is to shine the light on negative stigma of such words in the mental health community. Our words matter.
Will we see you next Wednesday?! Enjoy a delicious end of summer picnic outside with us. We plan to meet at the Clubhouse and walk to a nearby park!

We attended the Mental Health and Wellness Fair at Mt. Pleasant DC Public Library. Here, we were able to spread the word about our community and talk to other mental health agencies who were in attendance.
The library is a great place to visit! Public libraries are for accessing books and are also a hub for resources in your community! They have resources from writing clubs to book clubs, other social events, and mental health resources.
Save the date for our member picnic on September 28th! More details coming soon.
For Wellness Wednesday, our member Mark is our “Cardio King!” We asked Mark, in what ways has Clubhouse activities helped you in your personal time? He said: “Clubhouse gets me up and about. Just leaving the house, and moving around more to complete daily tasks. I enjoy the wellness walks we take sometimes. My favorite part of walking is listening to nature. Cardio helps me calm down and avoid depressive symptoms. I plan to go on walks on my own, too.”
Great job, Mark!
Hot off the press! New issue of Compass! Check out what we're up to lately and in the coming month!

Anyone who is experiencing or has a friend/family member experiencing a mental health, substance abuse or suicidal crisis, can call the 988 hotline. Upon dialing this number, they will be connected to a local, trained crisis counselor who can address their immediate needs and connect them to ongoing care if needed.
988 serves as a universal entry point so that no matter where you live in the U.S., you can easily access 24/7 emotional support.

We look forward to the beginning of a great partnership with the Occupational Therapy department at GWU!
Thanks for coming Dr. Davidson and Dr. Geron!

Juneteenth is the celebration of slaves in Texas and Oklahoma being freed on June 19, 1865. It was more than two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation that the Union asserted control over Texas and Oklahoma. Union forces arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas on June 19, 1865 enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing over 250,000 black slaves by executive decree. The newly emancipated citizens soon referred to this day as Juneteenth.
Come and buy our delicious bake goods. To support us going to Clubhouse International World Seminar. This Sunday at 1517 18th street NW.
