This week, SAMS launched its January medical mission across multiple locations in Syria, including Deir Ezzor, Idlib, Damascus, and Homs. On the first day alone, multidisciplinary teams delivered a wide range of medical services focused on patient consultations, accurate diagnosis, treatment, and essential medical interventions.

In Idlib, oncology patients received specialized consultations at both the University Hospital and Al-Nour Center, accompanied by field rounds in oncology wards. In Damascus, advanced vascular procedures were performed using catheter-based techniques, alongside pediatric dental services that combined treatment with preventive care and health education.

In Homs, the mission carried out an intensive day of work, providing dozens of consultations across multiple specialties in Al-Qusayr, performing medical and surgical interventions, and completing orthopedic surgeries at Al-Bir Hospital. Meanwhile, in Deir Ezzor, activities spanned Al-Khraita Clinic, Al-Madina Hospital, and the Blood and Oncology Center, offering internal medicine, cardiology, and pediatric consultations, as well as dental care and mental health services. Comprehensive pediatric assessments were conducted, appropriate treatments prescribed, and patients requiring specialized follow-up were referred accordingly.

The first day of the mission highlighted the scale of medical effort and the breadth of services provided, reinforcing SAMS’ commitment to expanding access to specialized healthcare and responding to the needs of communities across Syria.

📍 SAMS Medical Mission – Deir Ezzor | January 2026

On January 25, 2026, SAMS launched a new medical mission in Deir Ezzor, marking a strong first day of multidisciplinary humanitarian response across several health facilities.

At Al-Khraita Clinic, SAMS medical teams provided comprehensive consultations and clinical evaluations in pediatrics, internal medicine, cardiology, and mental health. Dozens of patients were assessed, diagnosed, and treated, with medications prescribed as needed and specialized referrals made for cases requiring further care.

The mission also extended to Al-Madina Hospital, where pediatric specialists delivered in-depth consultations for children, including full clinical examinations and appropriate treatment plans. A small number of patients were referred for advanced follow-up to ensure continuity of care.

In addition, services were provided at the Blood Bank and Oncology Center, where oncology patients received medical consultations and follow-up assessments, with all cases managed according to their clinical needs.

The day concluded with a professional medical lecture titled: “Ultrasound in Emergency Settings,” supporting knowledge exchange and capacity building among healthcare providers.

Through this mission, SAMS reaffirms its commitment to reaching underserved communities in Deir Ezzor and delivering integrated, patient-centered healthcare, strengthening resilience and upholding the right to medical care for all.

📍Jordan

This week, we concluded our medical mission at the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan after several meaningful days of service and humanitarian work. Our medical teams were committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate healthcare to refugees in need.

The campaign brought together specialists in internal medicine, ophthalmology, and dentistry, allowing us to examine and treat hundreds of patients. Our focus was on relieving suffering and ensuring care reached the most vulnerable members of the community.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated medical staff and volunteers whose commitment made this mission possible, to the camp residents for their trust and cooperation, and to our partners and supporters whose contributions were essential to its success.

As we leave the camp today, we carry with us the lasting impact of this mission. We remain firmly committed to the belief that healthcare is a fundamental human right and that humanitarian service is an ongoing responsibility—one that does not end with a single mission.

SAMS in Rural Hasakah, Syria

🦷 Shifa’s New Smile Amid Life’s Challenges

In Abu Al-Son village, 8-year-old Shifa, a displaced child from rural Aleppo, suffered severe tooth pain from decay. At the SAMS-supported Mukhtala Health Center, Dr. Abdel Samad Al-Dakhil carefully examined her and safely removed the affected tooth before it harmed the neighboring teeth.

Though initially scared, Shifa was comforted by the team’s care and encouragement. Pain relief was provided, and she was referred to the psychosocial support team to overcome her fear and learn proper dental care.

Today, Shifa brushes her teeth twice a day, eats fewer sweets, and her new smile is shining. SAMS’ free medical services help children in rural Hasakah face the challenges of displacement and limited access to care. This program is made possible with the support of World Vision.

📍Makhatele Village – Rural Hasakah, Syria

Makhatele is a small village in the rural outskirts of Ras Al-Ain in rural Hasakah, where access to healthcare remains extremely limited and the nearest hospitals and specialized medical centers are far away. In this context, the Makhatele Primary Health Center serves as a critical lifeline, providing essential medical care not only to the village’s residents but also to surrounding underserved communities.

With the support of SAMS, the Makhatele Health Center works to improve health outcomes in these rural areas by offering free, comprehensive medical services, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable populations, including older adults and children.

Aisha, a 68-year-old woman, visited the general medicine clinic at the center after experiencing persistent lower back pain for nearly two months, accompanied by flank pain, burning during urination, and frequent urination. Her medical history includes chronic hypertension, increasing the need for careful assessment and follow-up.

The medical team conducted a full clinical examination, measured her vital signs, and ordered the necessary laboratory tests, which confirmed a urinary tract infection. Based on the diagnosis, she was prescribed appropriate medication and received clear health guidance, including the importance of treatment adherence and regular follow-up.

Several days after starting treatment, Aisha returned to the center for reassessment. Her symptoms had significantly improved, with the urinary discomfort resolved, flank pain reduced, and an overall improvement in her health condition, demonstrating the impact of timely medical intervention and the quality of care provided by the health center’s dedicated staff.

This vital work is made possible with the support of partners such as World Vision, helping ensure that essential healthcare reaches even the most remote communities.
