The IOTA model (Increasing Organ Transplant Access) is a new funding approach designed to improve care for people with kidney disease by rewarding providers for better outcomes, earlier interventions, and more coordinated care. The goal is to bridge gaps in the current system — especially for patients who face barriers to getting a transplant or accessing specialty care.

If adopted widely, this model could mean more patients get the right care at the right time, and fewer fall through the cracks.

Last week, DPC Board Member Cheri Rodriguez Jones and DPC's Eastern Region Advocacy Director, Elizabeth Lively, attended the National Conference of State Legislators meeting in Boston. They met with Massachusetts State Rep. Thomas Stanley, sponsor of HD 4991. Thank you, Rep. Stanley, for supporting access to Medigap coverage for under-age-65 ESRD patients.
