Why develop an exercise habit now? Because 75-year-olds who've been doing it for decades may have the cardiovascular systems of people in their 40s and the muscles of 20-somethings, researchers found.

Are you over the age of 65?
According to health.gov “Older adults should ... do muscle-strengthening activities that are moderate or high intensity and involve all major muscle groups on 2 or more days a week, as these activities provide ... health benefits.”

A study published in the Journal of Preventive Medicine showed that most adults over the age of 65 are not meeting the minimum guidelines for strength training.

Researchers found that only 9.6% of the people in the study (individuals 65 years and older), met the guidelines of 2 days a week or more of strength training. Researchers found that those individual who did meet this guideline, decreased their risk of all-cause mortality by 46%.

As personal trainers we can give you the information and the tools to take the next step toward a healthier and longer life! If you are interested in a safe way to meet the strength training guidelines and reduce your risk of mortality, check out our website or call us today at 202-506-5267.

Frustrated with your excess body fat?

There are many factors at play but this one is often overlooked!

Research has shown that not getting enough sleep, less than 7 hours, and not getting a good night's sleep, restless sleep, has been shown to reduce the hormone leptin and increase the hormone ghrelin.
Leptin is the hormone that signals your brain that you feel full or satisfied after a meal and how long you feel this way. Ghrelin is the hormone that signals your brain that you are hungry.

This research suggest that if you sleep for more than 7 hours and get a better night’s sleep then you can feel full longer and reduce your hunger.
