We’re exactly one month out from the launch of The Menopause Gut.

And if you asked me how I feel right now… I’d probably say everything at once: excited, grateful, exhausted, and a little bit terrified, if I’m being honest.

This has been one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done professionally, and without question, one of the most fulfilling.

This book is a love letter to women. It’s the book I wish I had 10 or 15 years ago, and it’s the book I believe women deserve now. Because this conversation is so much bigger than hot flashes or hormone prescriptions.

If we keep treating perimenopause and menopause in isolation, we miss what really matters.

There is so much more available to us in this phase of life, and that’s why this message matters so deeply to me.

The Menopause Gut is almost here.

If you’ve already preordered, I’m so grateful you’re part of this. If you’re curious, you can preorder through the link in my bio or visit:

Aging well requires intention. Brain health, hormone strategy, and cardio-respiratory fitness all influence long-term resilience.

In this episode, I connect with Dr. Lindsey Berkson, distinguished hormone scholar and author of 21 books, to discuss hippocampal health, hormone timing, oxytocin, detoxification, inflammation, and the physiologic patterns seen in women who maintain cognitive and physical strength with age.

In this episode, we cover:

IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN:

✅ How a shrinking hippocampus alters women’s identity and resilience
✅ The value of cardio-respiratory fitness and pushing limits for driving resilience
✅ How conservative hormone dosing may fail to protect women’s health in perimenopause and beyond
✅ Women’s Health Initiative messaging created a widespread fear of estrogen
✅ Why Dr. Berkson challenges the timing hypothesis
✅ The difference between synthetic progestins and naturally made progesterone
✅ Oxytocin and how it functions as a system-wide hormone
✅ Importance of detoxification during the perimenopause to menopause transition
✅ Consistent patterns are common among women who age with physical and cognitive resilience

Aging is inevitable. Strategy is optional.

If your lifestyle is “on point” but your energy is still crashing, it’s worth looking deeper.

In midlife, energy dips are often tied to:

Blood sugar dysregulation, poor sleep quality, hormonal shifts, gut imbalances...

Many women assume they’re doing something wrong, when in reality they’re missing how these systems interact.

In The Menopause Gut, I walk through how blood sugar, gut health, sleep, and hormones all connect, and how to approach them more strategically.

“I didn’t change anything. My weight changed.”

Weight is one of the most emotionally loaded topics in midlife health, and almost everything women have been told about it is incomplete.

In this week’s session, I’m joined by .carriejones , one of my favorite voices in the hormone space, to unpack why midlife weight gain isn’t a willpower problem.

Your gut bacteria influence insulin sensitivity, fat storage, and inflammation. When microbiome diversity declines in midlife, the body becomes more efficient at storing fat and less efficient at burning it.

Hormone replacement therapy can be a powerful tool.

But it’s not a standalone solution.

If you’re not addressing your gut health, stress levels, and nutrition, you’re missing a key part of the picture.

Supporting your gut — including the estrobolome — plays an important role in how your body processes and responds to hormones.

That includes:

✅ Managing chronic stress
✅ Eating adequate fiber
✅ Supporting your microbiome with the right foods

In The Menopause Gut, I explain how to approach hormones and gut health in a more strategic, integrated way.

This is the missing connection many women aren't being told about.

In midlife, your gut and your hormones are not working independently; they are influencing each other constantly.

This shift helps explain why symptoms like fatigue, bloating, and changes in body composition can feel more persistent, even when your habits haven't changed.

Here's what this means:
Your body is not failing you.
It's responding to a different internal environment.

Understanding that relationship changes how you approach your health.

I explore this further in The Menopause Gut.

Regular bowel movements are a key marker of gut health, yet they’re often overlooked in conversations about perimenopause and menopause.

If your body isn’t eliminating properly, it can affect how you feel day to day.

Three simple factors play a major role:

➡️ Hydration
➡️Movement
➡️ Fiber intake

Most women are not consuming enough fiber, particularly when their diet includes ultra-processed foods.

Supporting these foundational habits can make a meaningful difference in gut health and overall well-being in midlife.

In The Menopause Gut, I break down how these daily practices influence your gut, your hormones, and your long-term health.

Bone density and muscle mass decline accelerate after 40, yet common exercise recommendations often fail to create the stimulus needed for meaningful adaptation.

In Episode 571 I speak with .nicktrubee , exercise physiologist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, about resistance training, progressive overload, protein requirements, creatine, and recovery strategies for preventing and reversing osteoporosis.

In this episode you will learn:

✅ The benefits of consistent use of vibration plates, red light, and sauna for recovery and nervous system support
✅ Why you should avoid pushing through a full workout when you are feeling run-down or depleted
✅ How much protein should we be eating?
✅ Current guidelines may fall short of the actual protein requirements for people over 60
✅ The value of creatine for muscle and bone support
✅ Why many women over 40 struggle with their body composition
✅ A tip to help you meet your protein requirements
✅ How weighted vests can boost metabolism while safely enhancing bone strength
✅ Why grip strength is a proxy for overall strength

Midlife weight gain is often framed as a willpower issue.

It isn’t!

As microbiome diversity declines in perimenopause and menopause, metabolic flexibility changes. Your body becomes more efficient at storing fat and less efficient at burning it.

And aggressive calorie restriction can make that worse.

If you’re navigating weight resistance in midlife, Week 4 of Microbiome Mondays breaks this down in depth.

Perimenopause is not linear.

Hormones fluctuate, cycles become irregular, and what once felt predictable no longer is.

That’s why testing hormones in midlife isn’t always straightforward.

Timing matters — but when cycles become irregular, interpretation becomes more nuanced.

This is where many women feel confused.

In The Menopause Gut, I explain how hormonal shifts, gut health, and metabolism intersect — and how to approach midlife with more clarity and strategy.
