🚨 House Passes 2026 Consolidated Appropriations Act

The House has approved the Consolidated Appropriations Act for 2026 by a vote of 217-214, securing a 23-month extension of Medicare ambulance add-on payments: 2% for urban, 3% for rural, and 22.6% for super rural areas—now funded through December 31, 2027. The Senate approved the package on January 30, and it now moves to the President’s desk.

The bill also includes report language directing ASPR to establish a pilot program addressing workforce shortages, alongside funding for several other programs critical to EMS operations. This legislation will fund five federal agencies through the end of FY2026 and resolves the brief partial government shutdown - DHS funding extends through February 13.

AAA continues to advocate for sustainable EMS payment reform and workforce support, ensuring ambulance providers can maintain on-demand, high-quality care in every community.
