On Being Young Black Female and Doctory:

I think I have seen it ALL!

I am USED TO people being referred to me for surgery, them coming in, me explaining everything to expect before during and after surgery, only to be asked:

“So who is doing the surgery??!”

😊

THIS is an everyday occurrence…

But the new new is…

After seeing the patients pre-op, talking to them, praying with them in the surgery center…

They come to their post op appointment talking about—

“The lady who did my surgery!”

“She did this”

“She did that”

When I tell them that was me—they are in TOTAL disbelief! 😂😂😂

“THAT WAS YOU?!!! NOOOO!”

🤦🏾‍♀️

Take me now sweet Jesus!🤣😳🤪

“I just a baby!” 🐣

Please pray for mustard seed faith for me!

I am finally getting to the point where I accept that I may never feel ready/adequate/enough/worthy/confident about doing what God is calling me to do and that is ok.

If I did, if I had everything figured out then what would I need God for??!

What I am realizing is that when God is calling all I have to do is OBEY, get out the boat and God will figure out how to keep me from sinking.

This is where TRUST comes in.

Trust is not needed to stay in the comfort zone of the boat. TRUST is required to step out.

Anyone who tells you it isn’t SCARY, isn’t actually trying to walk on water.

I am learning to be comfortable with being uncomfortable and it’s not easy.

It ain’t easy.

Let me say that again.

It is not easy.

There is a fleshly part of me that only wants to feel pleasure, safety, comfort.

This is the part of me that has to die.

Daily.

The Christ-led life has never been about comfort.

Jesus wasn’t comfortable on the cross.

Paul wasn’t comfortable in jail.

Mary wasn’t comfortable watching her baby boy crucified.

And Job…

Sigh.

The Christ-led life is about God’s WILL.

Not my will but Thy will.

THY WILL BE DONE.
THY WILL BE DONE.
THY WILL BE DONE.

And let my faith fail not.

Give me the courage and disciple I need O Lord.
