Creative Wellbeing Workshops, LLC Training and Workshops, Consultation,Supervision, and Individual and Group Therapy, Online Therapy and Consultation That’s where we come in!

Creative Wellbeing Workshops provides interactive trainings that promote authentic and sustainable happiness. We combine cutting edge interventions from the field of positive psychology, the “science of well-being,” with over 20 years of experience helping people flourish through the creative process. Although most people report being generally satisfied with their lives, they would also like to e

xperience more enjoyment, engagement and meaning. They want to feel more satisfied and fulfilled but the means to do so often seem elusive. At work, many people experience fatigue, disengagement, and low motivation. Employers struggle with the resulting problems: chronic absenteeism, poor job performance, low morale, and high turnover. We teach happiness-boosting strategies that promote access to the wide ranging benefits of wellbeing for individuals, teams, organizations and communities. We provide training onsite. We also provide therapy, supervision, and consultation at our offices in DC and Tucson and online for clients who, for reasons of mobility or preference, would like to communicate securely via Skype online.

This is our last Creative Wellbeing Workshop newsletter!

We close out with one of our favorites activities--The Year in Review/Visioning exercise. Rebecca put her husband, KC, through the process. As he is wont to do, he initially insisted he hadn’t done anything last year, but at the end of it he was so jazzed that he drafted a detailed plan for 2025 and he made an inspired visioning drawing.

Click below for the newsletter and to see Gioia’s visioning artwork for 2025. We also go over the services that will still be available through CWW (e.g., the blog, handouts, therapy, coaching, workshops, etc.). The CWW website will still be live.

There’s also information on Rebecca’s shift to focusing more on Psychedelics, Art, Creativity, and Art Therapy.

As we wind down 2024, Gioia and I are also winding down the Creative Wellbeing Workshops newsletter. Our website will still be live but Gioia will be concentrating more on her work with Active Military personnel and Arts-Based Research and Rebecca will be continuing her immersion into Art Therapy and Psychedelics.

This does not change our commitment to positivity--we recognize the critical need to maintain a sense of wonder and curiosity when the pull towards fear and hate can be so powerful.

With this in mind, we share a video of a little girl, Kayden, getting her first taste of rain. Watching her absolute delight is infectious--without any effort, it puts us instantly into a state of wonder and joy. click below for access to the video, to learn more about our upcoming changes and for access the full library of blogs on positivity.

We need to develop techniques to help us detach from our emotions, so that we don’t get stuck in them otherwise they wear our bodies out and skew our perceptions.

At the end of a recent family dinner, Rebecca’s twin Jenny playfully “forced” everyone to make art. Alvaro (fiancé of Rebecca’s other sister Julia) was willing but he didn’t know what to make. Rebecca suggested a small circular mandala because it provides some structure and warms people up. Once Alvaro jumped in, he ended making not just one piece, but three, each progressively looser and more expressive.

So is Alvaro an artist? Who cares?! At the end of the experience neither did he.

Click here to learn more about why this kind of creativity and self-expression matters and for some useful handouts on the topic.

We often think we have to go to the beach or the mountains to find nature, but if we just look around us, nature is right here. The wood frame on the table, the houseplant’s leaf shape, the food we eat, the clouds in the sky—they’re all ways we can connect to nature right where we are.

Where do you find nature? Perhaps there’s a local park or nature hike you particularly enjoy. Next time you go, use your phone camera to become more aware of what you’re experiencing by capturing some cool images of what you’re seeing with different lenses like portrait mode in your camera. We also suggest using “wide-scope meditation” to become more aware of your environment. Go to the full newsletter to learn more about this technique.

Rebecca’s mother, Lee, has a habit of cautioning Rebecca whenever she is about to travel to “Be careful!” At a certain point Rebecca realized it had been so ingrained in her to avoid danger that even though this had likely spared her some measure of hardship, she was less equipped to manage it when it came her way.

There is sweet point between being careful and avoiding mishaps and building up the capacity to bounce back when bad things happen. Follow the link to learn more about assessing and developing resilience.

How do we “trust our gut” when we have challenges connecting to our bodies either because we don’t recognize or acknowledge the importance of physical cues or because we’re inundated with so many sensations that we become overwhelmed and can’t interpret their significance.

Check out our newsletter this month with suggestions and resources on tuning into your gut and tapping into your body. We also include an art therapy exercise, an outline of a figure you can download, and Rebecca’s own art response to this directive.
