🥹 As a former local community council member, I’ve seen firsthand how vital NPR and PBS are, especially for rural alerts, educational programming, and trusted news.
Now, that’s under threat. Congress just cut $1.1 billion in federal funding for public broadcasting. This is money that keeps rural, tribal, and low-income communities connected and informed.
Without this funding:
⚠️ Emergency alerts may vanish in remote areas
📺 Kids lose access to free educational content
📉 Small stations face closure, silencing local voices
If you care about equity and access, here’s how to help the most impacted communities:
💸 Donate to rural and tribal stations (like in Alaska or in Texas)
📞 Call your reps and say: “Restore CPB funding to protect public media access for underserved communities.”
Go to house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative
Go to senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm
Or call the Capitol directly: (202) 224-3121
🎧 Stream local shows to boost reach and visibility
Public media isn’t a luxury. It’s a lifeline. Let’s not let it disappear where it’s needed most.
