Joseph Gawler’s Sons, LLC is privileged to have served families of the nation’s capital since 1850, including those of presidents, Supreme Court justices, members of Congress, military leaders and foreign dignitaries. We handle funeral arrangements for families of Northwest Washington, D.C. metro community, which includes the areas of Maryland and Virginia just outside the District.Our large, classic Georgian facility, which we moved to in 1962, and its furnishings were renovated and refurbished in 2003 to provide more modern conveniences while maintaining the comfortable feel of Gawler’s and our more than 160-year history.We serve all faiths in quiet dignity from a variety of state rooms, some with historical significance. In addition to the state rooms, our facility includes a spacious chapel which features illuminated windows and a family suite that provides a restful haven of privacy for families.The Eisenhower Room, decorated with paneling replicating that at Camp David at the suggestion of Mamie Eisenhower, is the largest of the Gawler’s state rooms and is suitable for both large and smaller services.Gawler’s also offers an unusually large selection of caskets, which can be selected in a separate casket-selection room, and a cremation gallery with a complete selection of urns for families choosing cremation services.Gawler’s offers many professional services and amenities to families, and in every respect, we continue our tradition of personal attention to families’ needs and individual desires. On October 20th, the Joseph Gawlers team commemorated the Rededication of the Saint John's Church Bell Tower; the occasion featured live music, art, and a Lego replica of the church.

At Capital Caring Kids: Point of Hope Camp, the team from Joseph Gawler's Sons and our friends from Demaine Funeral Home welcomed day campers. The camp provided children with outdoor experiences to develop skills for managing grief.

The Funeral Directors of Joseph Gawler's Sons set sail with Montgomery Hospice, on September 14th, for The Hospice Cup. This is the largest charity regatta in the United States. Nearly 1000 sailors come together annually to sail in support of the gift of hospice.
