A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of traveling to some fascinating cities in China and eat some delicious food. Here’s what I ate:

Lots of chili oil, rice congee, mushrooms, lotus rood, bamboo, cabbage, tea eggs, chicken, pork, custard buns, gourmet vegetarian food, fancy seafood including crab, fish, and lobster, coconut milk, tapioca, mango and dragon fruit and then some!

No, I couldn’t be a 100% gluten-free but I managed 80% of the time with meat, veggies, eggs, fruit, and rice :)

Gluten free deliciousness on my recent trip to India!! Love the use of millet flours (jowar, bajra, ragi) and rice flour and chickpea flour. Blown away by gluten free dumplings, always love a good GF pizza, forever grateful for soft rotis (flatbreads) made with love abs GF flour. Pleasantly surprised by GF papri with dahi bhallas!

My favorite part is not compromising on taste, my protein and fiber requirements, or feeling left out of it group meals! πŸŽ‰πŸ™ŒπŸ’•

Have you ever thought about the steep rise in holistic care practice in the West and realized there is a profound misunderstanding amongst many regarding what they actually mean for us?

IMHO, demystifying holistic practices is key to increasing accessibility and opening up options for many of us who are frustrated with cookie cutter responses to our individual needs and health conditions.

While Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda have been around for thousands of years, Functional Medicine is more recent.
They all have a bunch of commonalities though, which is testament to their whole body approach as opposed to silo-ing parts of the body and treating them in isolation.

If your basic tests are revealing nothing or are being dismissed as β€œnormal” and you feeling anything BUT normal, it’s time to dig deeper. Ask your provider to run some additional tests to get to the root of the problem, whether it is metabolic or hormonal or a combination of the two. πŸ₯ΈπŸ₯Έ

Self-advocacy goes a long way, especially in less understood and under researched conditions like PCOS. πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯ΊπŸŽˆ
