We are birth and postpartum doulas and educators who provide pregnant families comprehensive support.

DC Birth Doulas is a group practice of birth and postpartum doulas providing comprehensive and holistic education, information and support to families across the DC region. Since 2015, we have supported more than 2,000 families with consistent, high-quality care. Our clients benefit from the collective experience, wide base of knowledge and continuous training of each doula and educator in our gro

Birth often unfolds smoothly and safely and that sometimes medical tools are necessary and desired. Families deserve emotional, physical, informational and social support throughout their pregnancy, birth and transition into parenthood. We center our practices, policies, and care around principles of sustainability and equity. Social Justice

As a company we are passionate about reproductive health justice at the individual, community, and policy levels. We train as birth workers on how to advocate for health equity in the classroom, the birthing room, and the postpartum space. We engage with policy makers and community stakeholders to advocate for awareness and broader change in our community. We financially support organizations that provide midwifery care, doulas and birth education to under-resourced populations. We also provide generous scholarships for aspiring birth educators from under-resourced communities to our Lamaze Training seminars. We also believe that social justice begins with us - and how we treat our care providers. We design our service practices and policies with sustainability as a central value. We pay our team members a fair and livable wage, limit our environmental impact, and care for our staff so they can care for you. We are dedicated to doing our part to help make birth and new parenthood a more just experience for all - one family at a time.

After 24+ hours at a birth there’s nothing like the sight of your back up - someone you know you can entrust the care of people you’ve become closer to over the course of Labor so you can go home and get some well earned rest while you know your clients will be in the best of hands as they meet their baby!

These doulas are working hard! I rarely get to step in these days, much less bump into each other in the hallway for a quick hug. Long hours, overnights, weekends and holidays, supporting families through the unpredictable journey of birth. Let’s hear it for our birth doulas! There’s nothing like gathering together! We are committed to creating a sustainable company - this means remote meetings and telecommuting whenever possible. But twice a year we get together, the whole company, for hugs and reconnecting and collaborating. I couldn’t ask to work with a better set of humans and look forward to our next gathering.
