Emily Lynch for Children's DCNA Chair

Emily Lynch for Children's DCNA Chair I am running for change--to give our members a voice and make our union stronger. My priorities are:
1. Member communication and participation
2.

Better working conditions
3. Preparation for contract negotiations I didn't start my nursing career 13 years ago thinking I'd be a union officer, but over time I have seen the value of strong unions in healthcare and wanted to get involved. I was appointed to a vacant "at-large member" seat on the DCNA/CNH board in 2022 and have worked hard in that capacity fighting for the rights and better work

ing conditions of our bargaining unit members. I'm running for DCNA/CNH Chair because we need change. It's important for every one of us to have a voice in our union and we are stronger together. For that to happen, we need leadership that fosters an environment where individual members have an opportunity to have their voices heard.

There hasn't been an election for officers on our board in over 5 years. Local union officer elections should be held at least every 3 years, if not more often according to specific local union by-laws. Holding an election is the sole responsibility of the Chair and she has chosen not to hold one since 2019--restricting our bargaining unit's ability to choose their leaders and representatives.

Our Chief Shop Steward, Anastasia Weber, and I recognized the need for an election and continued to push for it to ensure our and all your voices are heard. We know our bargaining unit needs change.

Furthermore, we are the largest dues paying bargaining unit within DCNA, yet we were told there wasn't a budget for an online election. Does that seem right?

My first priority as Chair will be improved member communication and participation. This includes:

-holding elections at the frequency mandated by our by-laws and at least every 3 years
-regular membership meetings
-engagement throughout all units
-communication of updates and changes
-transparency in what we are working on
