Congratulations to our DAISY Award Honoree, Terkiyah Catron, RN! 🌼

Empathy, patience, and presence—these are the qualities that define exceptional nursing, and Terkiyah demonstrates them every day in her care for adolescent patients.

Nominated by a colleague, Terkiyah was recognized for her extraordinary ability to connect with and support teens facing complex social and emotional challenges. One example stood out: a young patient in protective custody who arrived to the OB-GYN clinic withdrawn and hesitant to engage in her care.

Through steady, nonjudgmental presence and genuine compassion, Terkiyah built trust—transforming routine check-ins into moments of healing and connection. When the teen hesitated to stay for an important test, sharing that her phone was dead and she was hungry, Terkiyah didn’t just restate the medical need—she listened. Offering snacks from her own lunch and a spare phone charger, she met the patient’s human needs first, helping her feel seen, supported, and safe.

These simple acts of kindness carried deep meaning, reflecting Terkiyah’s profound understanding of what it means to truly care.

Please join us in congratulating Terkiyah on this well-deserved Award. 💙
