This week I visited Walker Mill Middle School to talk to a group of young ladies who experienced the loss of a classmate & friend. We talked about what we needed to hear, how we felt, & what resources we had or needed.

The rates of youth su***de are growing. Check in with that kid in your life. Ask what they need. Pour into them regularly. Answering a cry can save a life.

Thanks to for tagging me in for this visit 💚

Long post, but please please read:

Help Dr. Vivid Support Mental Health & Wellness for All!

Hello! My name is Dr. Ashley Elliott, also known as Dr. Vivid, and I’m a clinician, mental health advocate, and DEI consultant based in Washington, DC. My life’s work is centered on creating safe, supportive spaces where individuals can embrace their wellness journey, prioritize mental health, and feel truly seen. I’m passionate about serving communities of the global majority, the LGBTQIA+ community, and anyone in need of culturally competent, inclusive mental health resources.

My Mission: Making Mental Wellness Accessible

In my work, I’ve witnessed firsthand how many barriers still exist in accessing quality mental health care. That’s why I’m reaching out to ask for your support. Since 2020, I have been using my income and savings to fund my projects. This year my income took a major hit as many clients shifted away from DEI work or lost funding for wellness programs. As a result, I am unable to take care of my expenses and provide as many low-cost or free mental health services as I have in the past. My goal is to raise $10,000 to fund mental health activities, host wellness events, and provide free wellness sessions for the community—especially for those who cannot afford traditional therapy or wellness services. Every dollar raised will go directly toward community wellness, providing tools, resources, and spaces for healing and growth.

Where Your Contribution Will Go:

• Mental Health Activities & Events: Funds will support workshops, community talks, and mental health events that focus on self-care, emotional wellness, and harm reduction. These events will be designed to be inclusive, accessible, and impactful for everyone, no matter where they are on their wellness journey.
• Free Wellness Sessions: I aim to continue to provide free or reduced-cost wellness sessions for individuals who may not otherwise have access to therapeutic support. These sessions will incorporate tools like mindfulness, journaling, and coping strategies to help people manage stress, anxiety, and life challenges.
• Community Resources & Tools: Contributions will go toward developing materials, such as workbooks, online resources, and therapeutic guides, making mental health support accessible beyond one-on-one sessions. These resources will be tailored to support diverse communities and available for free.

A Bit About My Work

I operate as a therapist in private practice and also serve as a mental health and DEI consultant for Web3, developers, influencers, schools, companies, government agencies, and brands. I’m committed to bringing mental health education, harm reduction, and plant medicine awareness into communities that need it most.

My passion for mental health goes beyond therapy sessions; I’m a writer, a speaker, and an advocate for wellness in all forms. My workshops, writings, and podcast Vividly Speaking with Dr. Vivid focus on helping individuals cultivate wellness habits that fit into even the busiest of lives.

Why This Matters

Mental healthcare is not a luxury; it’s a necessity. But too often, resources are limited for marginalized and underserved communities. By supporting this mental health fund, you’re helping bring accessible, compassionate, and culturally responsive mental health support to those who need it most. You’re helping people learn to prioritize their wellness, break down the stigma surrounding mental health, and foster resilience and self-care practices in their daily lives.

Please consider donating, sharing, or even spreading the word to help me reach my goal of $10,000. With your help, we can make a lasting impact on the mental wellness of our community. Thank you for your support and belief in the power of accessible mental health care. Together, we can make a difference.

Any amount is strongly appreciated.

This evening Jojo came home after being away for the weekend. Today was hectic for me & I felt it would be. I picked her up & made a stop for coffee & canvas.

After running errands for my grandma, venting with my mom, completing some projects, & a session with my therapist, I was ready to work on some art. Jojo was excited too. I asked her to give me her ideas & I would make them into a picture. She did. Then she got frustrated as my art didn’t look like hers. She cried.

I reminded her that what’s in your heart & head is special & not to be compared. I told her we don’t always need to do things because we want to be perfect or be the best. We should do things because they make us feel good or help us calm down after our mind has been busy. I told her that I literally drew her ideas. She picked the colors I used & gave me a list of things to draw. So if she thought what I did was great, it was because her vision was great.

We ended our session with laughs, smiles, & lots of comments about how we love each other.

Go do what makes you feel good. You have some great ideas in your head & some good stuff in your heart. 🩵💜

My 2nd APA Monitor article feature this year😊 My peers and I don't always see eye to eye on topics. As a gamer and someone who utilizes gaming as a tool for my therapy clients, I was totally prepared for this divide LMAO. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness training are promising treatments for problem gaming.
