Dr. Dalton was featured on Fox 5 DC this morning discussing Seasonal Affective Disorder. It’s important to take care of your mental health during these crazy times. If you need help with your mental health or are concerned about substance use disorders call 1-800-662-4357. Consultation & referral is available 24hrs 7days a week.
As a psychiatrist, I truly worry about the collective psyche of the country. Severe political/cultural rifts, a global pandemic, racial unrest, record unemployment, & the lack of ability to connect socially is taking its toll. My referrals are up as stress levels of teens & adults are rising. Be sure to get help. Getting the help of a therapist and/or medical treatment is not a sign of weakness. Reach out to prevent burnout.
Dr. Dalton on WTOP discussing the results of a recent survey by American Addiction Centers showing that while the nation is on lockdown Americans are drinking alcohol while working from home. The DMV area rates are especially high with 40% of Marylanders reporting drinking alcohol during work hours while home and 50% of Virginians (DC data was not provided). In addition, one in three survey respondents said they are likely to drink more in isolation.
