All of our treatment rooms are wheelchair accessible. We have a designated quiet room for children who need a calmer environment. We keep weighted blankets available. We stock unflavored toothpaste for children who can't tolerate strong flavors.

These aren't "special accommodations" we advertise. This is just how we practice at Children's Choice.

We welcome ALL children. And we're always ready to adjust our approach for special needs. Parents shouldn't be struggling alone trying to help their child through treatment.

We treat children with Down syndrome, children in wheelchairs, children with various medical conditions. Every child is different, and we adapt based on their specific needs and abilities.

Airway problems don't always announce themselves dramatically. Sometimes the signs are subtle. Sometimes they seem almost normal because you've been hearing it every night for years.

But your child's breathing during sleep should be quiet and effortless. When it's not, their body is working too hard. And that affects everything — their sleep quality, their growth, their behavior, their development.

The sedation options we have now compared to when I was first trained are night and day.

When I started, we basically had oral sedation and that was it. Now we have so many more options, and the medications we use are so much safer for kids.

We can offer different levels of sedation based on what your child needs. The health of the child is a huge factor in determining what we can do safely. The amount and length of treatment matters too.

Sometimes we'll keep it in the office with oral sedation or nitrous oxide. Sometimes we need an anesthesiologist to come in for deeper sedation. And sometimes the best option is a hospital setting for longer or more complex procedures.

By the time we present options to families, we've already thought through what makes sense for their specific situation. We're not giving you every possible option that exists — we've narrowed it down to what's actually appropriate for your child.

Our understanding of sedation safety has improved dramatically. The medications are better. The monitoring is better. The training is better.

All of this means your child can get the care they need more safely and comfortably than ever before.
