🌟 When I think about my legacy 20 years from now, I get really excited.

The children we’re caring for today will become adults who breathe better, sleep better, and live healthier lives—because we caught things early and intervened when it mattered most.

I didn’t become a pediatric dentist just to fix cavities. In a perfect world, our kids wouldn’t have any! But my vision is so much bigger than teeth.

🧠 We’re shaping the whole child — their growth, their development, their confidence, and their overall health.

💤 When we improve sleep…

🌬️ When we improve breathing…

❤️ We change lives far beyond the dental chair.

That’s my legacy: not just healthy smiles, but healthier futures.

🤝 Something beautiful is happening in healthcare, and I’m so excited to be part of it — professional boundaries are finally coming down!

For too long, families have experienced frustrating delays in care simply because providers weren’t speaking to each other. Everyone operated in their own silo, and families were left trying to make sense of conflicting advice.

But at Children’s Choice Dental, we’ve said “no more” to that.

When your child needs care, our team is already collaborating behind the scenes. Dr. Phillips (our orthodontist), Miss Jo (our myofunctional therapist), and I are constantly talking about cases, sharing insights, and building coordinated treatment plans. We trust each other’s expertise, and we work together — for your child’s benefit.

This team-based approach means:

✅ Faster answers
✅ Better outcomes
✅ Less stress for families

No more waiting weeks between appointments to get clarity — we’re having real-time conversations about your child’s care.

And it’s working. ENTs are sending us patients. Pediatricians are calling us. Families are seeing what coordinated care really looks like. 🌟

When professionals stop working in isolation and start working in harmony, everyone wins — especially your child.

💭 I didn’t become a pediatric dentist just to fix cavities.

Yes, we absolutely care about preventing and treating them—but in a perfect world, kids wouldn’t have cavities at all.

What really excites me about pediatric dentistry is everything else we can do to impact a child’s whole health and development.

✨ When we address breathing issues early, we may be preventing ADHD-like symptoms, sleep challenges, and behavioral struggles.
✨ When we guide jaw development during natural growth periods, we’re setting kids up for better breathing, better sleep, and healthier lives.

This isn’t just “bread and butter” pediatric dentistry. It takes extra training. More time. Deeper family conversations. It’s more work—but it’s purposeful work. 💪

And for me? That impact—the lifelong difference we can make—is everything.

At Children’s Choice Dental, we’re not just raising kids with clean teeth. We’re helping raise a generation of children who breathe better, sleep better, and live better.

That’s why I love coming to work every single day. 🦷💖

🏘️ Being part of a neighborhood means being part of many, many micro-communities – and I love how our small business partnerships have grown over the years!

You know, as your neighborhood dentist, we love being woven into the fabric of the community, supporting each other, and showing up when our neighbors need us.

These partnerships and relationships with other small businesses have been huge for us. We support one another, refer to each other, and work together to serve our community better.

Being part of micro-communities means we get calls asking, "Can you come out and do this for our school?" or "Can you help with this community event?" And the answer is always YES when we can make it work.

When you're truly embedded in your neighborhood, you become part of the support network that helps everyone thrive. That’s what real community partnership looks like. 🤝

🎓 You know what still excites me about pediatric dentistry—even after all these years?

It’s that feeling of always going back to residency—because the learning never stops!

Every day brings something new. A discovery. A fresh insight. A new way to serve our families better. Just this week, I read research that could change how we approach a treatment we use regularly. 📚

Pediatric dentistry is always evolving. Our understanding of how oral health connects to total body wellness is deeper than ever. New technologies, new techniques, and new research are constantly helping us care for children in more meaningful ways.

✨ And that’s what I love most—I get to keep learning, growing, and adapting, all in service of helping children thrive.

The day I stop learning is the day I should stop practicing. But until then? I’m here—curious, committed, and passionate about discovering what’s next.

💕 Sometimes caring for children means caring for their parents too.

A mama came in recently with her baby for their first dental visit. We’d been following this little one since they were just two weeks old for a tongue tie release—and it was such a joy to see how well they were both doing.

But during our visit, I could sense something wasn’t quite right. As we talked, she shared that she had stopped taking her antidepressants and was really struggling.

I gently said, “You need to talk to your doctor about this. Please, check in with them.”

At her next visit, she gave me the biggest smile and said, “I’m still on my medication! Thank you so much for caring.”

✨ Healthy, supported parents raise healthier children. When we care for the whole family—not just the teeth—we build something truly powerful.

🤖 The power of AI has revolutionized how we connect with our families, and I'm so excited about this change!

Sometimes during really important conversations, I used to be torn between giving you my full attention and making sure I captured all the crucial details. Well, that's completely changed now.

We've started using an AI note-taker for our longer consultations, and it's been a wonderful addition to our practice. Now when families are sharing their concerns, asking deep questions, or telling me about their child's challenges, I can give them my completely undivided attention! 👀

It’s really powerful to be able to look parents in the eye, really listen to what they're saying, and focus entirely on the conversation instead of frantically typing on my computer.

This technology allows us to have more meaningful, connected conversations while still maintaining detailed records of everything we discuss.

When you're sharing your concerns about your child, you deserve my complete attention — and now technology helps make that possible! ✨

🛑 "Let's have our victory for today." Sometimes we have to know when to stop pushing.

Just recently, we had a breakthrough moment with a young patient. After we accomplished what we'd been working toward, the parent asked if we could do additional procedures that same day.
My instinct was to pause and say "Let's celebrate this win first."

Pushing too hard after a victory can sometimes undo all the progress we've made. Children need time to process their success and feel proud of their accomplishment.

But you know what's amazing? When we don't push, kids often surprise us. This particular patient ended up completing even more than we had planned, simply because he felt confident and in control! 🌟

Recognizing these victory moments is such an important part of pediatric care. I can’t even tell you how amazing it feels when a patient finally trusts you. Honoring their pace and celebrating their progress builds the foundation for future success.

💭 When families come in, I’ve gotten really good at watching how parents react. What are they holding back? What aren’t they telling me? There's often so much more to the story than whatever appears on the surface.

That’s where curiosity becomes powerful. Instead of just doing the exam and moving on, I ask: "Is there anything else?" "Tell me more about that." "What about their birth history?"

I see their shoulders relax. Their eyebrow furrow disappears. All of a sudden, it's like "I've been trying to get this question answered for years!" 😌

Parents often start with "I'm just here for a 30-minute checkup" but then realize we actually want to understand the whole picture. We want to know about sleep patterns, behavior, feeding history – all the pieces that might connect to what we're seeing.

This curiosity helps families feel heard and often reveals patterns that completely change how we approach their child's care.

Your story matters. Your observations matter. And taking time to really listen often leads to the breakthroughs families have been searching for! 💡

🤔 There's a big difference between "common" and "healthy."

Just because lots of kids beyond the toddler age are still sleeping with their parents doesn't mean it's optimal.

Just because many children snore or grind their teeth doesn't mean we should ignore it.

Sometimes parents dismiss concerning signs because they see them everywhere – in mommy groups, at playdates, with friends' kids. When something is common, it can feel normal and not worth addressing.

But here's the thing – some of these "common" behaviors might actually be your child's way of showing you something needs attention. 👀

Snoring is a symptom that something's not working well with breathing. Grinding can signal airway issues. Multiple night wakings beyond a certain age aren't just "normal childhood behavior."

At Children's Choice Dental, we help parents understand which common behaviors are actually opportunities for early intervention that could improve their child's sleep, behavior, and overall development.

Your parental instincts matter. If something feels off, even if it seems "normal," let's talk about it! ✨

📞 Wondering if what you're seeing is common or concerning? Call us at New Carrollton (301) 731-8510 or Washington DC (202) 410-0088.

❤️ "I haven't taken my child to the dentist in 10 years because no one could help us." When I hear this from parents, it makes me even more determined to help.

There are families out there with children who have complex needs, and finding providers who can help is nearly impossible. Sometimes it's been a decade since their last dental visit simply because the right care wasn't available.

When these families finally come to see us, we don't focus on what didn't happen in the past. We focus on what we can do moving forward.

Whether it's a child who needs specialized care, coordinated medical procedures, or someone who understands their unique situation - we meet families exactly where they are.

Ten years without dental care might sound shocking, but when you're a parent trying to navigate a complex system with limited options, sometimes you're just surviving and doing the best you can.

That's exactly why we're here. No matter how long it's been, no matter how complex the situation seems - there's always a path forward. 🌟

Every child deserves dental care, and every family deserves to be met with understanding and compassion.
