New case presents a 10-year, single-center case series of 21 CAP cases, highlighting 5 key cases: type III CAP treated with a covered stent complicated by side branch occlusion; calcified perforation complicated by stent thrombosis; distal wire perforation with fatal outcome; chronic total occlusion-related CAP managed with coiling and surgery; and type IV CAP with delayed deterioration.

AbstractBackgroundCoronary artery perforation (CAP) is an uncommon but serious complication of percutaneous coronary intervention, with a mortality rate of 10% to 20%. Its relevance is increasing w...

Between 2021-2025, relatively few AHFTC (Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology) programs matched the majority of applicants. Applicants prioritize markers of hospital reputation and heart transplant volumes over regional disease burden or geographical considerations. These findings may have multiple implications in an era of declining interest in AHFTC training.

Editor-in-Chief Dr. Harlan Krumholz emphasized that the Global Burden of JACC manuscript should be a “compass, not a mirror," in that the data should not just reflect where we are, but guide where we need to focus our efforts.

He also noted: “We have to start thinking differently about how we’re delivering care. I believe AI can make a difference.”

Hosted by JACC, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), this collaboration is shaping the future of global heart health.

New study from ERCTO (European Registry of Chronic Total Occlusion) shows rising use of drug-coated balloons (DCBs) in chronic total occlusion percutaneous coronary intervention. Findings highlight reduced stent length, lower contrast use, and fewer tamponade events, supporting DCBs as a promising strategy in complex lesions.

AbstractBackgroundDrug-coated balloons (DCBs) are increasingly used in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Their application for chronic total occlusions (CTOs) is a promising option to limit...

A new report in , published to coincide with a event, highlights the urgent need to prioritize heart health. Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) caused 1 in 3 deaths worldwide as a result of population growth, population aging and exposure to a broad range of risks, including increasing rates of obesity and diabetes.

The updated report shows wide global, regional and national variation in burden, even among countries with similar economies. Researchers estimated burden due to 376 diseases, including CVD, from 1990 to 2023 in 204 countries using all available data and statistical models.

case highlights the role of exercise right heart catheterization in detecting early pulmonary vascular disease and supports vasoreactivity testing to guide therapy. Exercise-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension may be the initial manifestation of autoimmune disease and should be considered in young patients with exertional symptoms and nondiagnostic resting evaluations.

AbstractBackgroundExercise right heart catheterization (RHC) is a valuable diagnostic tool for identifying hemodynamic abnormalities that may not be evident at rest.Case SummaryA 36-year-old woman ...
