Learning to listen to your body and “resetting” is truly the key to achieving a healthy lifestyle.

Resetting isn't about beating yourself up, feeling bad or staying stuck. Please stop thinking that way.

A reset is about embracing a positive attitude towards change and finding opportunities for personal growth even in the hardest of times.

Resetting is actually very empowering. When was the last time that you were honest with yourself and acknowledged that you needed a reset?

Better yet…when was the last time that you gave yourself permission to reset?

Look you only have this one life and this one body…now is the time to get honest with yourself and reach out for what you need.

Spring might be my favorite season, and I have so many reasons why. The sunshine is so welcome after winter… There’s a feeling of renewal everywhere… And here in DC the Cherry Blossoms are blooming.

When I think about personal growth and rebirth, the symbolism is so clear and positive this time of year. It’s everywhere you look! So, let’s think about how you can learn from nature’s beautiful cycle and blossom into your brightest, best self.

When you think about Spring, you think about ENERGY and GROWTH.

What are your sources of energy?

Plants get theirs from the sun, of course. And guess what? So do you! So, be sure to get outside regularly and soak up some Vitamin D. But what else recharges your batteries? How about:
⭐Rest and relaxation
⭐Eating fresh foods in a balanced diet
⭐Feeding your soul with spiritual practices, art, and community ties

Where do you want to grow?

Think about your goals clearly so you can apply that energy where it’s needed the most.
⭐Set a specific goal related to exercise. Maybe choose a local 5K, set a target weight, or adopt a new exercise plan.
⭐Make a plan of action to exercise, shop, meal prep, etc., to bring those aims alive.
⭐Let go of lesser priorities and distractions. Energy conservation is an important aspect of resource management!

I want you to listen up...your next level is right there, it's right there...but in order to get there you have to keep going.

This health and wellness "game" is a journey. You must keep pushing every day to make changes and too allow yourself to see the results.

You must also give yourself permission to reset and admit when things aren't working the way you envisioned. It's ok. Reset if you must, but don't you quit.

NEVER QUIT. NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU!

Look...changing habits, being consistent and creating routines takes time. Maybe it will take you 3 months, 6 months or even a 1 year to get to where you desire, that's ok because its a journey. It takes time.

And often it takes some support. You can't do it alone. You need help and that's ok too! It doesn't lessen your ability or worth...there's only honor in admitting that you need help and reaching out for it.

So ask yourself:

💎 "Do I need a reset?"
💎 "Do I need some help?"
💎 "Am I ready to tap into my next level?"

As you embark on your health and wellness journey, the greatest battle you will have is in your head!

It won’t be the workouts, the change in food or even creating a consistent schedule…the hardest part will be reversing the soundtrack playing in your head.

To get ahead of that, practice saying and committing to the following affirmations on a daily basis:

💫 I have it in me to do more, and do more, than I even know.

💫 My body is strong.

💫 I got this, just one day at a time.

💫 Where I start is not where I will finish.

💫 I release the old me and embrace me today.

💫 I have the energy I need to accomplish my goals.

💫 I deserve this and I’m going to win.

Today marked the opening of the Wellness and Opportunity Center in Anacostia, DC and the beginning of an amazing partnership between Body by Buckner and .

I’m very honored to walk this journey with the residents of DC. I’m super excited for an opportunity to really get back into the community.

Today was full of so many magical moments…I met so many special people who shared with me details about their health journey. Thank you for feeling safe enough to open up to me.

Big sense of gratitude right now…very thankful for this moment💚

Will share more highlights later, but for now I’m going to be present in this moment.

Sometimes the days get away from you so fast.

You start out with a list of good intentions and then, bam! Work, family, traffic… all the stresses of daily life barge in, and suddenly that new yoga class is no longer on the calendar, and you’re tempted to think about hitting a drive-through window for lunch (guilty as charged)!

Well, this happens to me less often now since I came up with my Sacred 3. That’s my list of three non-negotiables, the small habits I do every day, no matter how busy I get.

Do you have daily non-negotiables?

You should try it! It’s super-simple to do. Just take a few minutes to write down all the daily habits you currently do or wish you were doing. Then narrow it down to just 3 items that you can commit to without fail.

Be real with this. Remember how crazy things got last week… Or that day last month… Is something like that going to happen again?
Probably! Because life happens, despite our best intentions.

Ever since I made my own list, and then set about guarding it with a passion, I find that I have fewer days where I feel overwhelmed, like my life is out of control.

Every day that I’m able to stay on track – even if it’s just with these three little things – is another day I’m not giving up, not falling back to old habits, and not despairing.

It’s a powerful tactic to shut out the noise and the stress of the rest of the world!

BYE!! They have to go ✌✌

Have you ever noticed that anytime you do something, there’s somebody who doesn’t like it?

You get a new haircut – and someone tells you it’s too short.
You buy a new car – and someone says you paid too much.
You start exercising and dieting – and someone starts acting out because you’re “making” them feel uncomfortable.

It might just be human nature to be a hater.

So, if that’s the case, then how much should you care about your own personal changes making someone else feel uncomfortable?

Should you care …

💎A lot?
💎A little?
💎Or not one bit?

I bet you can guess my answer!

Once you accept that there will always be someone who doesn’t like what you do, then it’s SO LIBERATING because you can let go of any element of judgment or condemnation and focus on YOU!

Who cares what THEY say...their opinion doesn't count. And it might be time to give them the "deuces" and cut them from your circle. BYE, BYE, BYE🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️💨

Because when it comes to the bottom line on your health and fitness...There is one opinion that matters: YOURS.

Giving some gratitude for happy moments with my youngest son🫶

Parenting is hard.

Raising a person and then also giving them space to be their own person is super difficult.
The tension between the two spaces had been creating a strain on our relationship…

But last week while working with my business coach, I learned a new technique that helped me re-think the way I was going about connecting with my son (yes coaching works😉)

Fast forward a week later and we are smiling again and enjoying each other!

I get to put 2 points on my scorecard🥈

The tension has decreased and I feel soooo much better.

I’m soooooo grateful for this moment💓💓
