In anticipation of our upcoming Kentucky Derby SoirĂ©e, residents at The Residences at Thomas Circle have been getting into the spirit—designing their very own Derby hats!

From florals to feathers and everything in between, the creativity in the room was unmatched. More importantly, so was the laughter, connection, and sense of community.

Residents of Thomas Circle enjoyed a memorable visit to the Washington National Cathedral, guided by one of our own—Catherine Androus, a professional guide and member of the Guild of Professional Tour Guides of Washington, DC.

Catherine, who joined our community this past season, brought the Cathedral’s history, architecture, and hidden details to life in a way only an expert can. From the stunning stained glass to the grandeur of the space itself, it was an experience that was both enriching and inspiring.

Moments like these reflect what makes our community so special—connection, discovery, and the opportunity to learn from one another.

Last week, residents of Thomas Circle celebrated Songkran, the Thai New Year—an annual festival in Thailand that marks renewal, gratitude, and the welcoming of a new season.

We were honored to host the Somapa Thai Dance Company of Washington, DC, who shared the rich history and traditions behind Songkran through beautiful music, storytelling, and traditional dance.

Residents not only enjoyed the performance but also had the opportunity to engage, learn, and experience the culture in a meaningful and personal way.

Events like these bring the world a little closer—and remind us that vibrant, shared experiences are at the heart of our community.

Thomas Circle Employee Spotlight

Addis Ayano, Associate Executive Director
17 years of dedicated service

Our Associate Executive Director plays a vital role in supporting both our residents and team each day.

With over 17 years at Thomas Circle, she brings consistency, compassion, and a deep understanding of the community that can only come from years of meaningful connection and experience.

Her friendly smile, calm demeanor, and unwavering commitment create a sense of trust that residents, families, and team members rely on every day.

In her leadership role, she helps ensure that our community remains a place where residents feel supported, respected, and truly at home.

Beyond her work here, she is also a devoted wife and mother — and that same care and dedication are reflected in how she leads and serves others.

We are incredibly grateful to have her as part of our leadership team.

Every year, as cherry blossoms bloom in DC, we look forward to one of our favorite traditions — our “Haiku & Blossom” painting class. 🌾

Residents express their creativity by painting delicate cherry blossoms and writing their own haikus — each piece as unique as the person who created it.

A beautiful blend of art, reflection, and the joy of the season.
