I’m thrilled to be speaking at the 2025 Black Health Connect Conference in Washington, D.C., where I’ll join a panel of esteemed colleagues to discuss burnout among healthcare professionals.

This annual event brings together hundreds of Black healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders from across the healthcare ecosystem. I’ve attended since its inception, and year after year, it remains the most joyful, inspiring, and fulfilling conference I’ve been a part of.

In a time when we need community more than ever, offers one of the largest gatherings of Black healthcare professionals in the country. From powerful panels to unmatched networking opportunities, this is where our community connects, heals, and thrives.

I am honored to receive a fellowship from the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. I’m excited to bring the psychology of racial trauma into the field of cultural preservation and to help reimagine preservation as a powerful path toward collective healing, justice, and liberation.

We can only understand our present through the lens of our past, and true healing begins with an honest reckoning of the wounds that shaped us. Preservation is more than protecting history—it’s a living process of repair, restoration, and transformation. By honoring the stories and struggles of those who came before us, we open space for collective healing—urgently needed in a nation writhing in pain.

Thank you to , the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation for the opportunity to carry this work forward. I’m deeply grateful for your support.

About a year ago, using his authority under the Antiquities Act, President Biden designated the Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument, honoring the life and legacy of Emmett Till and his mother Mamie Till-Mobley for their pivotal role in catalyzing the Civil Rights Movement.

The multi-site national monument includes three sites:

• Roberts Temple Church of God in Christ in Chicago, where Mamie Till-Mobley courageously held an open casket visitation and funeral for her son.
• Tallahatchie County Courthouse in Sumner, Mississippi, where the trial of Emmett Till’s murderers took place, and where they were acquitted.
• Graball Landing on the banks of the Tallahatchie River in Mississippi, where Emmett Till’s body was recovered.

This designation is a crucial step in helping to tell a more complete story of our nation’s history.

The National Trust’s African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund is rebroadcasting a conversation on Monuments and Justice that features myself, and other key partners who led the multi-year campaign to designate the multi-state monument.

Join us for our webinar, Monuments & Justice, on July 25 at 2pm EST to explore the architecture of monument-making, the need for ethnic and cultural representation, and the role of historic preservation in fostering healing from racial trauma and offering a path forward for reclamation and education. The link to register is in my bio.

Learning is the spice of life. We don’t have to know it all, nor should we. There’s loss in already knowing, already arriving at a conclusion. The journey is what gives life its richness. And if we’re open to always learning, we can have access to that richness our entire lives.
