Structural and social factors such as access to care, financial strain, housing, transportation, and language barriers play a critical role in outcomes. By systematically assessing social determinants of health and connecting families to needed resources, clinicians and researchers can help ensure every child has an equitable chance to thrive. Addressing these factors is not optional, it is a core part of high-quality, patient-centered care.
