Considering taking a supplement? Read this first!

1️⃣ Prioritize food first – Nutrients are best absorbed through whole foods. Supplements should fill gaps, not replace meals or foods.
2️⃣ Identify your need – Base your decision on lab work, symptoms, medical conditions, food allergies/intolerances or provider recommendations rather than trends.
3️⃣ Choose quality products – Look for third-party certifications (e.g., USP, NSF, ConsumerLab) to ensure safety and accuracy.
4️⃣ Consult a professional – Always check with a healthcare provider, especially if you take medications or manage health conditions. Some supplements can interact with medications so it is better to be safe!

This Black History Month, we honor the deep connection between food, culture, and history within the Black community. Traditional Black cuisines, rooted in resilience, creativity, and resourcefulness, tell powerful stories of heritage and survival.

As intuitive eaters, we acknowledge the importance of honoring our roots and celebrating the role food plays in shaping identity and community. From soulful dishes to vibrant spices, the Black culinary tradition reminds us to embrace joy, nourishment, and culture without guilt or restriction.

This month, let’s take time to:
- Learn about the origins of soul food and its ties to African, Caribbean, and Southern cuisines.
- Honor the contributions of Black farmers, chefs, and food activists in shaping how we eat today.
- Reflect on how intuitive eating can celebrate and preserve cultural traditions.
Join us in celebrating these rich food legacies and recognizing the strength and creativity they represent.

Low carb, high protein, intermittent fasting, juicing - it can feel like every day there’s a new trend or plan, especially around the New Year. But nutrition isn’t about perfection or quick fixes, it’s about finding what works for you that will be sustainable and enjoyable. Instead of an approach that might be short-lived, try starting with some basics, such as:

Listening to your body’s unique cues
Moving in a way that feels good for your body
Eating foods that are nourishing and satisfying
Being mindful of comparisons, expectations and restrictive approaches
Let’s simplify how we think about food and focus on what truly matters - your health, your joy, and your overall well being. Our team is here to help you navigate a personalized approach that works for your unique needs.

The holidays are about connection and traditions, especially around food! If you are feeling guilt about what you ate over the holiday season it is important to remember that we can trust our bodies, food doesn’t have moral value, and that perfection is not the goal when it comes to our intake. When guilt arises, try to practice self compassion and focus on the memories that were created this holiday season. And know that we are here to help support you in navigating your relationship with food, every step of the way!
