Our first year students had the opportunity this semester to volunteer with different community partners as part of their Interprofessional Community Practicum Class. They each created a resource for these groups, such as informational pamphlets or videos on exercises, safe transfers, or safe and accessible movement activities. Each group was able to present their experience in a poster presentation! Thank you to all of our community partners!🀍

Our students attended APTA Capitol Hill Day where they advocated for four different bills, the Medicare Payment Reform, Prevent Interruptions in Physical Therapy Act, SAFE Act, and Optimizing Postpartum Outcomes Act. These bills all work to help improve patient access to care aiming to enhance quality of life and support PT workforce sustainability.

Roll on Capitol Hill 2025! Our first year students had the most incredible experience guiding advocates from United Spinal Association to the Capitol for a day of advocacy. They were able to attend meetings with the advocates as they met with their state representatives to fight for better laws for people with disabilities and share their personal experiences and challenges. Thank you so much to United Spinal for this opportunity!

Our first year students explored the National Museum of African American History and Culture, gaining more knowledge about the historical and cultural context shaping health disparities. It was such a great experience collaborating with GW OT students and discussing the importance of culturally responsive care.
